Item CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) AS A WAY TO REINFORCE BRAND EQUITY(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus., 2020-11-20) Rabbia Ahmed; SP17-BBA-070; Syed Nauman Ahmed; LHR TP 6708Corporate Social Responsibility relates to an organization’s conduct towards the environment, social causes and issues and the local communities. The reinforcement of brand equity is one of the major benefits of participating in and initiating corporate social responsibility. This exploratory research shows how CSR could be utilized as a tool or way to reinforce brand equity and what kinds of CSR activities influence a brands image. This paper proves with the help of examples of companies using CSR as a marketing tool, that CSR does have an effect, that too a positive effect on the brand equity of an organization.Item SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ISSUES/PROBLEMS FACED BY FOOD INDUSTRY IN PAKISTAN(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus., 2020-11-20) Aniqa Safdar; SP17-BBA-020; Imran-Ur-Rehman; LHR TP 6706Due to increase in traditional eating habits and lifestyle of people, food and its allied industries become Pakistan’s 2nd largest industry and holds world 8th largest market, accounts 27% of its value-addition production with total employment rate of 16% in manufacturing sector. From 2012-2018, $223.5m is the annual average of food industry in FDI with 180 million consumers. Agriculture, food production, manufacturing and retailing are all included in food industry, therefore it spans everything from farming and livestock to food processing, distribution and marketing. Some of those viruses cause the common cold in the general public while other viruses infect the innocent animal which includes bats, dogs, camels, goats, and cattle,etc.(hoek, 2007). Common symptoms may involve the difficulty of breath, cough, fever & cold, etc. also other respiratory problems involved in it. Its symptoms can be easily seen from 2 to 14 days after its exposure. It mostly spreads through human interaction with each other like handshaking, hugging, and touching on the face are the main factors of its spreads(Qaiser, 2020). This research indicates how culture can play an important role and the factors related to culture can have a huge impact on customers. The goal is to determine how the elements like, Traditions, Fashion, Internet being the key factors of culture effect the decision making of customers and patterns of buying. The aim of our study would be to anticipate the relationship between cultural values, lifestyles and consumer buying in Pakistan. Is culture more influential or the global fashion more influential based upon the social classes in Pakistan. The macro and micro trends of fashion in Pakistan. The methodology used in this study is the survey methodology where the response of 72 individuals with an age group of 18-35 was taken into account.Item Reasons of price fluctuations and its impact on the sales of automobiles in Pakistan(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus., 2020-11-20) Etasam Raza; SP17-BBA-068; Syed Nauman Ahmed; LHR TP 6627Automobile manufacturing in Pakistan started in 1953 with the production of General Motors vehicles in partnership with the National Motors. In the same year, American automobile giant Ford Motors entered in the market of Pakistan with Ali Automobiles to manufacture Ford vehicles and light trucks. In 1960s Pakistan saw a huge boom in automobile industry, Several European automobile manufactures started production e.g., Massey Ferguson and Vauxhall. Later scooter manufacturer Vespa also started manufacturing in Pakistan. This was the time when automobile parts as well manufacturing of car batteries and other parts of automobiles started in Pakistan. Decline of automobile industry started in the 1970s when many companies were nationalized and, in return foreign investment in automobile and automobile related industry declined (Hafeez, 2007). New era of automobile industry started in 1983 with the entrance of Suzuki motors in partnership with the government of Pakistan. During the same time period Mazda also started their production of small trucks. In 1993 Toyota formed Indus Motor company in partnership with Arif Habib group and started manufacturing vehicles. In 1994 Pakistan saw their biggest foreign investment in automobile sector when Honda joined hands with Atlas group and started manufacturing motorcycles and vehicles in two state of the art plants in Shiekhupura.Some Korean automobile manufacturers e.g., Daewoo, Hyundai and Kia tried their luck in automobile industry but failed to retain their market in long term and both manufacturers decided to exist from market in 2008 due to financial crises of their local partner Dewan motors. From 2008 to 2016 only three Japanese manufactures dominated the automobile industry in Pakistan and annual sales in these years almost double from 100,000 to 200,000 vehicles which resulted in making Pakistan automobile sector attractive for foreign manufacturing companies (Irfan Anjum, 2019).Item HUMAN RESOURCE CHALLENGES FACED BY THE TEXTILE INDUSTRY IN PAKISTAN(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) Saba Mehmood; SP17-BBA-080; Syed Nauman Ahmad; LHR TP 6810The term Textile comes from a Latin word ‘texture’ means ‘to weave’. In exports, the textile industry of Pakistan has a crucial position. Textile products of Pakistan is known for the 8th largest exporter. It contributes to the total GDP is 8.5% and this industry has provided employment to about 15,000,000 people. Because of the cause that Pakistan has the availability of basic raw cotton and cheap labor, the growth of Cotton Textile Industry of Pakistan become possible. In Pakistan, the textile units that are installed across the country are 464 and has 124 large spinning units, 425 small units, 442 spinning units and 122, ginning units which are producing textile goods. Different sectors of textile industry are spinning, processing, finishing and some are the sub-sectors are the part of value chain of textile.Item Impact of Human Resource Planning on Organizational Performance(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) Umer Bin Rais; SP17-BBA-047; Ms. Hafsa Shaukat; LHR TP 6812The core aim of this study was to understand the impact of HR planning on organizational performance. This involves the importance of overall human resource management functions and how workforce productivity is linked with sound implementation of human resource planning. This study has been done through qualitative approach, previous researches and research articles have been analyzed with additions to few interviews with relevant personnel. The objective of the study covers the core need for human resource management and how HRP linked to workforce productivity. Top organizations around the world have been discussed with reference to human resource planning. Thorough analysis has been done on what HR planning strategies have been used by these organizations. Various barriers considering human resource planning confronted by Pakistani organizations have been discussed and on the basis of evidence various recommendations have been proposed to these organizations. Physical working environment greatly impact on employee’s performance, productivity, and moral. Physical working environment also impact on employee’s productivity, motivation, and work performance in the organization. That impact can be positive, and negative. Positive impact in this way when all the decision taken on merit ang given the incentive to the right employee. Physical working environment impact is negative when decision not taking merit for employee degrade the employees. Then productivity low because of lack in motivation. When any the organization introduce the new programmed that is very difficult for employees to maintain the work life, and other activities.Item EFFECTIVENESS OF SOCIAL ENTREPRENUERSHIP IN CURRENT BUISNESS SOCIETY(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) ASAD SALMAN; SP17-BBA-120; LHR TP 6652The main objective of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of and rise of social media implementations on entrepreneurship on current business environment. This area of study on social media and entrepreneurship is trending among the practitioner. Social media applications are thoroughly transforming the lifestyle and manners of customers. Study have shown the facts that web 2.0 have a deep impact on current business society. Social media has influenced so much into our daily routines. Online entrepreneurship is not only about online transactions but also it is also being used for making strong virtual relationships. One of benefits of Social media for entrepreneurs is that the marketing facility is broad and more reachable as compared to traditional marketing facilities. Social Media has provided easy pathways to start and advertise their businesses at low costs. But entrepreneurs still question about the robustness and reliability of social media use. This research has also analyzed about the advent of new opportunities for entrepreneurs after COVID-10 pandemic. The study would try to make a link between COVID-19 and cultural, social entrepreneurship in business society. However, study derived that, effects of this COVID calamity on social entrepreneurship are obvious as increasing trends of inline shopping is increasing. Based on an online questionnaire, we asked from about 60 students about social entrepreneurship using social media platforms like Facebook and their results about social entrepreneurship are quite staggeringly positive.Item HOW DIGITALIZATION IS IMPACTING TEXTILE INDUSTRY(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) Haifza Tarfeeha Tanzeel Khalid; SP17-BBA-002; Kashif Luqman; LHR TP 6651The word textile is taken from Latin, which means “Woven” derived from Textus means “to weave”. The word fabric is derived from Latin word means “building, thing made”. A textile is basically a flexible material consisting of network of natural or artificial fibers these fibers are usually made by cotton crops. Various steps are involved in converting raw crops into textile products some major steps involved all are including weaving knitting correcting, tatting felting, and braiding. The textile sector is one of the largest industrial sectors of Pakistan. Pakistan is the 8th major exporter of cotton goods and this segment contributes 8.5% to the GDP of Pakistan. The textile industry has also employed 45% of total labor force economy. Meanwhile Pakistan is the 4th larger fabricator of raw cotton but with largest outlay capability in Asia after China and India. This sector pays 35% of worldwide spending ability. At present there are 12121 units for 42 spinning universe 124 large units and 425 small units are producing textile goods in Pakistan.
