SKYPORT 2050 A VERTICAL TERMINAL PROTOTYPE
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2026-06-30) MUHAMMAD WALEED; FA20-BAR-045; LHR TP 10155; MEKAAL CHUGHTAI
Pakistan’s transportation landscape is marked by rapid urbanization, burgeoning populations, and
traffic congestion, particularly in metropolitan areas such as Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
Traditional ground transportation infrastructure is increasingly strained, leading to significant
delays, rising pollution, and reduced quality of urban life. This thesis examines the transportation
scenario in Pakistan, highlighting the urgent need for innovative solutions to address these
challenges. Among the emerging solutions, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) presents a promising
alternative, leveraging underutilized airspace to provide efficient, fast, and eco-friendly
transportation options.
This thesis explores the design and implementation of the Skyport Mobility Hub in Lahore a
pioneering architectural project aimed at revolutionizing urban mobility. The project integrates all
services into a single, vertically oriented structure, facilitating seamless transitions between
ridesharing, electric vehicles, and the innovative Air Taxis. By utilizing underutilized airspace, Air
Taxis offer a fast, efficient, and eco- friendly mode of transport, designed to alleviate traffic
congestion and enhance regional connectivity. Also, it serves as community engagement and social
interaction for daily commuters and local residents that provide a convenient connection for
divided neighboring communities revitalizing space to serve as more prominent connection points
for people moving from one neighborhood to another. This thesis outlines the architectural and
engineering strategies employed to create a landmark structure that addresses current urban
transportation challenges while setting a precedent for future sustainable urban development.
Through this project, Lahore is positioned as a leader in innovative and sustainable urban design,
demonstrating the potential of integrated mobility hubs in transforming urban landscapes.
CARAVANSERAI OF SOULS: A SPIRITUAL RETREAT
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2026-06-30) IMMAN YASER; MOEEZ HASSAN; FA20-BAR-019; LHR TP 10154
This thesis examines how architecture can become a catalyst for emotional grounding,
introspection, and self-discovery through spatial experience rather than symbolic or
institutional meaning. The research investigates how atmosphere, material, light, sound, and
above all spatial rhythm can evoke psychological and existential transformation, drawing on
the phenomenological insights of Bachelard, Pallasmaa, Zumthor, and sacred-space theory.
The study further explores how performative practices, music, movement, poetry, and
collective rituals, act as embodied mediums of awareness, resonance, and healing. Through
an interdisciplinary framework of environmental psychology, phenomenology, and Sufi
spatial principles, the thesis proposes a contemporary retreat that orchestrates transitions from
the outer world to inner stillness through thresholds, gradients of privacy, and sensorycontrolled environments. The retreat is conceived as a spatial sequence that enables selfreflection, grounding, and emotional renewal, where architecture operates not as a symbolic
enclosure, but as a performative medium engaging the human body and psyche. The project
argues that space can cultivate inner transformation and existential awareness through
sensory depth, spatial hierarchy, and temporal experience, ultimately positioning architecture
as a vessel for the reconstruction and recovery of the self.

Education as a Catalyst for Social and Economic Upliftment in Underprivileged Urban Areas
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2026-06-30) SYED MOONIS RAZA; FA20-BAR-011; LHR TP 10152; Shazia Hanif
In underprivileged urban communities, where access to high-quality educational infrastructure
frequently restricts prospects for growth and opportunities for advancement, education plays a
critical role in promoting social and economic development. This thesis proposes architecture as
a catalyst for positive social transformation by examining the design of a community-centered
educational campus in an impoverished Lahore neighborhood. The project incorporates
recreational areas, sports facilities, vocational training, primary and secondary educational
facilities, and communal settings that promote engagement, teamwork, and lifelong learning.
The campus, which is based on human-centered and climate-responsive design concepts,
prioritizes walkability, accessibility, natural ventilation, and inclusive outdoor areas that improve
community involvement and user well-being. The thesis illustrates how educational architecture
may support social cohesion, economic opportunity, empowerment, and sustainable urban
development by expanding the role of the school beyond formal instruction and establishing it as
a social and civic hub.
WHY DO WE FALL: GOTHAM CITY SET DESIGN 2027
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2026-06-30) Muhammad Haad Rasool; FA20-BAR-007; LHR TP 10151
This thesis explores how architectural set design becomes a narrative force and atmospheric
catalyst in cinematic worldbuilding by reimagining Gotham City for Batman 2027. Situated at the
intersection of architecture, cinema, urban theory, and production design, the project reveals how
cinematic environments transcend mere backdrops to become immersive spatial systems that
shape emotion, ideology, memory, movement, and psychological perception.
The thesis contends that set design is a true architectural practice, crafting experiential realities
through framing, sequence, atmosphere, materiality, and urban composition. Gotham City serves
as a living laboratory for this exploration, a fictional metropolis forged by fear, corruption,
monumentality, decay, surveillance, trauma, and the pulse of collective urban anxiety.
By weaving together cinematic architecture, Gothic urbanism, psychogeography, mise-en-scène,
montage theory, and architectural phenomenology, the thesis forges a new spatial language for
Batman 2027. Drawing from Neo-Noir cinema, Art Deco grandeur, industrial grit, and speculative
futurism, the project envisions Gotham poised between the shadows of historical ruin and the
rush of technological acceleration.
A core element of the research is creating an original narrative treatment and storyboard
sequence for Batman 2027. Here, architecture steps into the spotlight as an active cinematic
player directing movement, choreographing emotion, building tension, and sculpting narrative
experience. Storyboarding, cinematic framing, lens analysis, and psychogeographic mapping
become the architect’s tools for unraveling how space unfolds moment by moment across the
cinematic canvas.
The project proposes that cinematic techniques such as montage, mise-en-scène, perspective
distortion, framing, and camera movement can serve as powerful tools for architectural design.
Gotham City is reimagined not as a static urban model but as a living cinematic organism, its
districts, infrastructures, voids, and soaring hierarchies constantly evolving through narrative
tension and emotional atmosphere.
Ultimately, this thesis frames cinematic set design as a visionary form of speculative architecture,
stretching the boundaries of the discipline. Through Gotham City, the research uncovers how
fictional worlds illuminate hidden truths about urban fear, political unrest, social fragmentation,
and the emotional pulse of the modern city.
