Abstract
Pakistan’s transportation landscape is marked by rapid urbanization, burgeoning populations, and
traffic congestion, particularly in metropolitan areas such as Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.
Traditional ground transportation infrastructure is increasingly strained, leading to significant
delays, rising pollution, and reduced quality of urban life. This thesis examines the transportation
scenario in Pakistan, highlighting the urgent need for innovative solutions to address these
challenges. Among the emerging solutions, Urban Air Mobility (UAM) presents a promising
alternative, leveraging underutilized airspace to provide efficient, fast, and eco-friendly
transportation options.
This thesis explores the design and implementation of the Skyport Mobility Hub in Lahore a
pioneering architectural project aimed at revolutionizing urban mobility. The project integrates all
services into a single, vertically oriented structure, facilitating seamless transitions between
ridesharing, electric vehicles, and the innovative Air Taxis. By utilizing underutilized airspace, Air
Taxis offer a fast, efficient, and eco- friendly mode of transport, designed to alleviate traffic
congestion and enhance regional connectivity. Also, it serves as community engagement and social
interaction for daily commuters and local residents that provide a convenient connection for
divided neighboring communities revitalizing space to serve as more prominent connection points
for people moving from one neighborhood to another. This thesis outlines the architectural and
engineering strategies employed to create a landmark structure that addresses current urban
transportation challenges while setting a precedent for future sustainable urban development.
Through this project, Lahore is positioned as a leader in innovative and sustainable urban design,
demonstrating the potential of integrated mobility hubs in transforming urban landscapes.
