Item Effectiveness of Supply Chain Process and Improvement in Performance of Construction Industry of Pakistan(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2023-02-09) Raja M Saad Hassan; SP20-RPM-017; Dr. Rao Muhammad Atif; LHR TP 8769A construction firm's capacity to integrate its processes with supply chain partners is crucial for adapting to the dynamic market demands. Successful management of supply chains has the potential to play a pivotal role in enhancing overall performance. The main objective of the current study was to evaluate the effectiveness of supply chains process using tools of business analytics and measure their effects on supply chains performance in construction companies of Pakistan. Business analytics with plan, source, make, and delivery were identified as independent variables and supply chain performance as dependent variable. Survey questionnaire using five points Likert scale was applied for data collection. For this purpose, quantitative method being a scientific method grounded in positivist paradigm was adopted for this empirical research. The unit of analysis was Supply Chain personnel while a questionnaire apprising 27 statements was adapted to collect data from the target respondents with sample size as 130 (n) out of 150 (N). SPSS version 26.00 along with Excel spread sheet was utilized to collect and analyze by applying a range of statistical tests. Discourse of the study resorts to recommend that SC business performance can prosper with the application of business analytics using SCOR model. Supporting business process orientation is required to analyze and equalize the balance between supply chain companies and impact of BA on performance. Future research is recommended to highlight the impact of BA on different performance areas with the bigger sample size.Item Critical Role of Macroeconomic Indicators in Steering Material Prices in Construction Industry: Case of Pakistan(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Malik Shahan Ahmad; FA20-RPM-008; Dr. Rao Muhammad Atif; LHR TP 8575Construction industry is extremely volatile when it comes to material prices and this is attributed to various contributing factors such as economic and environmental factors. An assessment of such factors that can have a direct influence on material prices can help project managers and owners/investors to have an efficient and viable project planning which subsequently leads to project success. The core objective of this research is to assess the impact of macroeconomic factors on material prices in construction industry of Pakistan. For this purpose, the present study examines the relationship of macroeconomic factors such as Interest rate, GDP growth, money supply and exchange rate with the construction material prices. The estimates indicate that all of the macroeconomic variables used in the study significantly effects the construction material prices. The results exhibits that GDP growth, money supply and exchange rate have positive and statistically significant impact on construction prices in Pakistan. However, the impact of interest rate has been observed negative on construction material prices. These results can be used by the governments and policy makers as well as construction managers and owners in budget and time estimations.Item How Exchange Rate Fluctuations Affect Project Budget An Analysis of Orange Line Metro Train Lahore(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) Afaq Ahmed Waseem; SP20-RPM-018; Dr. Rao Muhammad Atif; LHR TP 7667The main objective set by the study was to check the relationship with exchange rate fluctuation on project budget. Other objectives such as to evaluate the impact of fluctuation on Project Budget and analyze the available strategic options for managing foreign exchange rate risks further guide the study. This research follows a descriptive study of Orange Line (Lahore Metro) project in Lahore that was brought into being on foreign funding. Personnel from management and Finance sections were taken as population for this study pertaining to the year 2021. The study population including 150 orange line employees in Lahore. A sample size of 50 was finally selected for our study following simple random sampling technique that is considered suitable to select the suitable research participant from the population in large numbers. As said earlier, management and Finance sections’ project officials were selected as they were well aware of the project financial matters and managerial issues. For collecting primary data of quantitative nature, a survey questionnaire adapted for this purpose was administered to the target respondents following drop the questionnaire and pick later technique giving the suitable time to the respondents to fill the questionnaire with focused attention. A range of statistical techniques including Frequency distributions, regression analysis were applied to undertake the data analysis. The findings indicated that Orange Line (Lahore Metro) project has threats of Foreign Exchange related Risks as transaction risk, exposure of economic risk, exposure and translation risk. Further revealed by the study that mostly respondents had unanimity of mind that unstable exchange rates influence and upset the revenue as well as profits, exposing an association of foreign exchange risk with financial performance, fluctuations in foreign exchange influences earnings accounting besides the organizational’ market value, similarly fluctuations in foreign exchange influences cash flows negatively. The findings of the study infer that the aforementioned BI elements play a significant role in BI success, and the moderating effect of the decision environment also has an influence on BI Success. The study also lays a foundation for better comprehension of value creation from BI for both the users and implementers, and consequently also bridges the Gap between theory & practical implementation of BI.
