Item A Comparative Study of Tenure Track System and a Basic Pay Scale System of Academic Professional Working in Public Universities of Pakistan Challenges and a Way Forward(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) Wajeeha Muzaffar Hashmi; FA20-RMS-005; LHR TP 8130; Dr. Rana Nadir IdreesThe Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has introduced many productive schemes to ensure that higher education maintains its high standards of quality and excellence (Khan & Jabeen, 2011). The Tenure-Track System (TTS) was introduced in Pakistan in 2002 to improve the quality of education by hiring the highly qualified faculty in higher education institutes, especially public universities. Another system is the Basic Pay Scale System (BPS). It governs how much an employee get an amount as salary or wages depending on their grade, experience, position, or tenure within an organization and the effort expended to accomplish a particular work. The aim of the study is to know the comparison between these two compensation systems and to know the challenges faced by the faculty members working on both systems in order to know a way forward to improve the systems for faculty members. The nature of the study is qualitative. The researcher has contact twenty faculty members (ten faculty members working on BPS and ten working on TTS) to do in depth face-to-face interviews in four public sector universities with the academic professionals working on BPS and TTS. Participants in the survey will comprehend that their names will kept private by receiving a clear explanation. The results shows that mostly faculty members are familiar with the difference between two systems. The findings also suggests that one both system have their own pros and cons. This Study is contributing towards the enhancement of understanding of TTS and BPS, majorItem A Literature Driven Analysis of Barriers and Enablers of Digital Adoption in Pakistani SMEs(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2025) Adeela Riaz; SP24-RBA-019; Dr. Syed Nauman Ahmad; LHR TP 10096Since this is a literature-based qualitative study, this paper examines the drivers of digital adoption among Pakistani SMEs. The research creates gaps because the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Technology Organization Environment (TOE), and Resource Dependency Theory (RDT) have been incorporated into the study. It provides a holistic explanation of the issues of digital adoption. The published literature on the topic (2021-2025) has been reviewed thematically to disclose that there are three groups of major determinants: • Behavioral factors (TAM): The ones that have a significant impact on the intentions to adopt are the perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and perceived managerial awareness. • Organizational/technological preparedness (TOE): low digital skills, inadequate infrastructure, and finances are barriers to the adoption. • Environmental/resource/pressures (RDT): environmental pressures on the competitor, customer expectations, government support, and dependence on external vendors are factors that impact the adoption decision. • This has been mentioned as one of the significant gaps where there are no Pakistani studies that incorporate TAM, TOE, and RDT, and thus, a requirement to incorporate the structures of these in the forthcoming research. The project suggests capacity-building initiatives, improved organizational planning, and policy support to enhance SME digital preparedness. Overall, the study provides a systematic context for research on SME transformation in the digital age and paves the way for future phases of empirical research.Item A Study of the Leadership Styles of Project Managers and its Impact on Project Performance in Software Industry of Pakistan(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2014-02-04) Rabiya Jamil Ahmmed; FA12-MSPM-012; Dr. Yahya Rashid; LHR TP 4458This study evaluates the effect of leadership styles of project managers in project performance in software Industry of Punjab Pakistan. USMAN MAQSOOD; CIIT/FA23-RBA-018/LHR; Dr. Sidra RamzanAs a consequence of technology breakthroughs, the world changes quickly. The goal of the twenty-first century is to establish a direct link between work effectiveness and completion time. For HRM operations to be successful, they must be both efficient and effective. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to improve employee engagement, decrease repetitive tasks, and save time. Nevertheless, it interferes with HR functions like hiring and performance reviews. For example, In-person encounters could be emotionally draining. Training and education for HR managers is crucial, as is their ability to adapt to new situations. AI has the potential to greatly accelerate this development. The use ofAI might greatly enhance HRM practices on a global scale.Item Alternative Pathways through Which Employee's CSR Perceptions Influence Turnover Intention(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2017-01-29) SOORAT FATIMA; FA15-RMS-020; Dr. Zafar-uz-Zaman Anjum; LHR TP 4872CSR literature, examining how employees’ organizational identification is influenced by organization’s CSR activities, have less considered different types of CSR and alternative mediation mechanisms of identification process . This study was aimed to investigate how perceived external CSR (initiatives for the welfare of external stakeholders) and perceived internal CSR (initiatives for the betterment of internal stakeholders i.e. workforce) affect employees’ organizational identification and how organizational identification rooted from these different pathways eventually affects employee’s turnover intention. We have considered social identity theory for analyzing these two different mechanisms by which external and internal CSR affect employee organizational identification. Our sample size was 300 and we received 211 useable responses from employees of banking sector. Data was analyzed using AMOS software. Hypotheses were tested using SEM. We found that CSR activities that are aimed for the welfare of external stakeholders (community and environment sub-facet of external CSR) boost perceived external prestige while CSR activities for employee well-being were found to have significant effect on perceived internal respect, both of which ,consequently, affected employees’ organizational identification. We further found that Organizational Identification from these two different roots have negative indirect effect on employee’s turnover intention.Item Alternative Pathways through Which Employee's CSR Perceptions Influence Turnover Intention(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2018) Soorat Fatima; FA15-RmS-020; Dr. Zafar-Uz-Zaman Anjum; LHR TP 4872CSR literature, examining how employees’ organizational identification is influenced by organization’s CSR activities, have less considered different types of CSR and alternative mediation mechanisms of identification process . If an economy has limited resources and lacking opportunities of advanced technology, inefficiency studies will help out to show that it is probable to increase productivity by enlightening efficiency without developing the resource base or increasing new technology. In this Study we have estimated the efficiency of three types of farming systems 1) Arid conventional farming, 2) Only tree farming, 3) Border tree farming on the sand dunes of Bhakkar district in Thal region. Efficiency estimates are based on technical, scale, allocative and economic efficiencies. Data was collected with the help of questionnaire technique from 200 farmers in Bhakkar. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique was used to estimate technical, scale, allocative and economic efficiencies. The mean value of total technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency, allocative efficiency and economic efficiency in conventional farming was found 0.679, 0.803, 0.786, 0.852 and 0.685 respectively. While the mean value of total technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency, allocative efficiency and economic efficiency in only tree farming was recorded 0.698, 0.954, 0.517, 0.337 and 0.301 respectively. Moreover, the mean value of total technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency, scale efficiency, allocative efficiency and economic efficiency in case of Border tree farming was found as 0.966, 0.938, 0.882, 0.687 and 0.638 respectively. The results specify that new and innovative ways of tree cultivation method were relatively more efficient compared to conventional ways of agriculture. Tobit regression was used to estimate the sources of inefficiencies in these three farming systems. Tobit regression estimates further indicates that education and age are important variables in explaining technical and allocative efficiencies in innovative farming. Hence results concluded that agriculture extensions should take appropriate policy measures to enhance awareness among farmers in the area.Item An Integrated Model of Workplace Ostracism, Positive Resources and Customer Service Sabotage: A Conservation of Resources Perspective(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) Ambreen Sarwar; SP15-PMS-005; Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Abdullah; LHR TP 7735With theoretical underpinnings in the Conservation of resources theory, the aim of this thesis was to shed light on the mechanism through which workplace ostracism results in service sabotage behavior in frontline employees working in the service sector of Pakistan, and the boundary conditions that might play a vital role in reducing the harmful effects of such behavior. Though it is a widely accepted truth that “Customer is the king” and must be given due importance by the service providers and be treated in a pleasantly congenial way. However, regrettably, customers are not provided with the warm, compassionate dealing that is widely accepted as the service rule. Customers are frequently ridiculed and shown rude and indecorous conduct from service providers which results in a negative service encounter. Such behaviors have the capacity to harmfully influence organizational outcomes and therefore needs to be studied and comprehended comprehensively for their effective control and management. This study proposed that such a behavior has its roots in the mistreatment that frontline employees come across in their day-to-day activities, by their peers at workplace. One kind of mistreatment i.e., workplace ostracism which though, is covert in nature, has the potential to inflict more harm on employees than by overt forms of mistreatment. In accordance with the tenets of conservation of resources theory, it was hypothesized that ostracism threatens important resources and induces stress in service personnel. In order to protect themselves from further resource loss and mitigate the harmful effects of stress, employees engage in deviant behaviors towards their customers during service interactions resulting in service sabotage. In such a case, the personal and job resources (i.e., self-efficacy and perceived organizational support) that an employee possess, serves as mitigating agents and reduces the negative effect of mistreatment. To test the hypotheses, quantitative survey approach was adopted under the positivistic paradigm, and data was collected from 743 frontline employees working x in the service sector of Pakistan. Time-lagged data was collected to reduce common method bias. Convenience sampling method was utilized since population size was not known. The respondents belonged to banking, academic, health, hospitality and telecom industries. These industries were principally selected due to their contextual relevance with the study aims and the prevailing stress, mistreatment and sabotage behavior. SPSS was used to analyze the data. Hierarchal Regression and Process Macro techniques were utilized for hypotheses testing. All the relations including mediation of stress and the first, second and dual stage moderation of self-efficacy and perceived organizational support were found to be significant. However, the moderating effect of perceived organizational support at direct stage emerged to be non-significant. The findings conclusively supported the claims of mediation and moderation in the service sabotage engagement by an ostracized employee. Organizations must take account of the stress-mitigating impact of self efficacy and perceived organizational support which is principally strong for producing acceptable service encounters. Managers might not be able to prevent all exclusionary or hostile actions, but this study proposes that proactively producing the values that nurtures care, respect, self-belief and support can assist the personnel in handling stress. Because mistreatment and impolite behaviors cannot be evaded and prevented entirely in the social context of the contemporary workplace, therefore personal and job resources should be utilized by management to lessen the negative effect of mistreatment. Future research might take directions from the limitations of the study and grab the opportunity to extend the research by studying and comparing similar theoretical models in different contexts.Item An Investigation of Business Continuity Management Practices in Services Sectors of Pakistan(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2015-02-02) Aleena Shuja; FA13-MSMS-003; Dr. Abdus Sattar Abbasi; LHR TP 4476Businesses need to take certain rational steps to sustain long term continuity under turbulent situations. Business Continuity Management (BCM) is a framework whose systematic execution leads to sustained survival and competitive advantage for business. Both internal and external environmental factors influence accomplishment of BCM framework. The study intends to investigate the impact of strategic planning coupled with top management commitment, training and development for developing competencies, work ethic, resource mobilization and political influence on BCM in services sectors including IT companies and banks operating in Lahore, Pakistan. A structured questionnaire based survey was conducted to collect data from managers from 29 services sectors’ companies including banks and IT companies randomly selected. Findings obtained using structural equation modeling, suggest that strategic planning is insignificant for BCM in services sectors i.e. IT companies and banks but plays consequential role under support of top management commitment. Role of top management commitment in services sectorsis important in reinforcing of strategic plans and decisions in term of successful BCM. Trainings in services sectors are significant predictors of BCM when they contribute to fortifying the best skills and capabilities exhibited for BCM, whereas, competencies of managersin services sectors are appropriate and relevant for implementing BCM practices. Competencies do supportively facilitate the outcome of training and development programs in terms of BCM. Work ethic being an important factor for services sectors contributes to their longstanding continuity. Services sectors efficiently mobilize their resources for successfully achieving the ongoing business continuity. Moreover, political influence has undermining role for BCM and significantly undermines the continuity of services sectorsItem ANALYSIS OF CIRCULAR ECONOMY IN CHINA(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2020-02-04) Salik Ahmad; SP17-BBA-024; Kashif Mehmood; LHR TP 6791A circular economy is an extremely efficient manner of utilizing the resources that are available to a nation. In this method, the nation utilizes the resources that are available to it in a manner which ensures the minimization of waste, and the reuse of materials in the best manner possible. This is distinct from the ways in which resources are utilized in traditional economies, which follow a process of resource utilization in a linear method wherein the resource is used to manufacture the product; after which the said product is used; and where the product, in the ultimate analysis, is disposed off. This process is wasteful, and is bad from an environmental perspective. It is to counter this problem that nations have started utilizing circular economy-oriented methods, and focusing on the development of renewable technologies in recent decades (Skene et al, 2015).Item Analysis of consumer’s purchase intentions toward online shopping in Pakistan.(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) Shafa Ghafoor; SP20-RMS-004; Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah; LHR TP 7661This research aims to explore the effects of e-WOM information, attitude toward information and purchasing. Subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and consumer’s internet experience on consumers’ online purchasing intentions. The primary objective of this study was to investigate how all of the independent variables influence/affect purchasing intentions of consumers in Pakistan and that too in the context of online shopping. Also, this section is also discussing the moderation impacts of information quality on the relationship of all the independent and dependent variables of this study. Prior studies do not have enough research on Information quality as a moderator. Therefore, this research has been developed to measure the moderating effect of quality information. A self-administered survey was conducted on customers in Lahore, Pakistan. Based on the data collected from 330 consumers. For this research study, quantitative data is collected. To test the model, this study carried the regression, descriptive analysis, Cronbach alpha and correlation, by using SPSS and structural equation modeling (SEM) approach by using AMOS. The validity and reliability of the measurements were confirmed before the hypotheses of the study have been tested. Findings of this research are in line with the previous studies and finds that e-WOM, ATT, SN, PBC and CIE are positively influencing the consumer’s online purchasing intention. In particular, a new finding of the study highlights the importance of the moderating role played by Information quality. Moderating impacts were found positive and significant in enhancing the relationships of e-WOM, ATT, SN, PBC, CIE and PI. Firms and marketers must concentrate on online communication channels to affect consumers’ intention toward purchasing online and engage in e-WOM communication. Companies should pay more attention to consumers' need for accurate and reliable information in order to enhance e-WOM and information influence.Item Analysis of Pakistan’s Balance of Payment problem: Causes and Consequences(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Muhammad Darain; SP22-RBA-009; Dr. Waseem AnwarA current account deficit happens when a country spends more on imports than it earns from exports. But when it can't finance the deficit or maintain enough foreign cash reserves, that's when a balance of payment crisis kicks in. This leads to falling currency value, debt defaults, inflation, and other economic troubles. Finding a way out means using smart policies to boost exports, attract foreign investments, and ensure macroeconomic stability.
