Item Factors contributing to the effectiveness for simultaneous multiple projects in service sector of Pakistan(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2018) Arsilan Maseel; SP16-RPM-001; Dr. Faisal Tehseen Shah; LHR TP 5215In many organizations, a project manager is assigned more than one project at the same time. This research is based on multi project managers and this type of management in which a project manager has to deal several projects simultaneously is known as ―Management of a Group of Multiple Projects‖ or MGMP. The study has identified the key drivers of effectiveness in MGMP in service sector of Pakistan. The moderation effect of top management support for the key drivers with performance and learning has also been studied. Using a questionnaire, data has been obtained from 179 project managers working in the service sector of Pakistan. It has been found that project manager assignment and project manager competency are the significant predictors of the effectiveness of MGMP. None of the factors under consideration has found to be significant predictor of project manager learning. This study confirms the role of top management support as a moderator for the relationship between these factors and MGMP effectiveness. The top management support moderates positively the relationship between PM assignment, PM competency and project performance. The relation between resource allocation, PM competency and PM learning is also moderated positively by the top management support. The research is helpful for managers to understand how the performance in MGMP can be enhanced and what are the factors the top management has to consider enhance performance of projects.Item The impact of Enterprise Resource Planning integration on the Performance: A case of Multinational Engineering Firm(Library Informtion Services, CUI Lahoare, 2018) Kanwal Iqbal; CIIT/FA16-RPM-001/LHR; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 5211This study aims to investigate the process of implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in multinational organization in Pakistan. The modern organizations have competitive edge in the market due to in time project delivery with accurate information. The integrated databases helps in accessing information quickly. The decision for the new projects are taken according to the previous information. ERP is considered as useful application for process automations and effective decision making. It is comprised of review of the relevant literature, business process efficiency and effectiveness of implementing ERP before and after and highlighting critical success factors in implementation of ERP. The successful implementation of ERP is only possible if the success factors are critically monitored. The success rate of ERP is very low in developing countries. The study is conducted in particular context of a multinational engineering firm with its head operations in Pakistan. By employing Mix-method approach, it first quantitatively evaluates the process times involved in bidding and budgeting processes before and after the implementation of ERP. Then qualitatively, it aims to highlight critical success factor of implementing ERP through semi-structured interview. The major contribution of research is, the benefits of implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning in developing countries at large and in Pakistan in particular, help provide guidelines for firm owners, employees and Quality managers in transforming organizational policies in order to have competitive edge in the market.
