(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Ayesha Bibi; SP20-BPY-032; Ms. Zaeema Farooq; LHR TP 8889
The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between Attachment styles, Dark tetrad personality and Friendship Quality in young adults. A correlational design was used, and the sample consisted of 400 young adults, including males (n=192) and females(n=208) with age range 18 to 25 with (M = 20.84, SD = 1.53). The study variables were evaluated using self-report instruments such as a demographics questionnaire, Adult Attachment Scale (RAAS; Collins, 1996), Dark tetrad personality scale (Jones, 2018), and Friendship Quality Scale (Bukowski, Hoza, and Boivin, 1994). Dark tetrad traits had a significantly positive correlation with attachment styles and friendship quality. Moreover, Close and Anxiety are positive predictors of Dark tetrad personality whereas Depend was a negative predictor of Machiavellianism, Psychopathy, Sadism and positive predictor of Narcissism. Dark tetrad personality mediated the relationship between Attachment (close, depend, anxeity) and Friendship quality. Attachment styles were predictors of Dark Tetrad Personality traits. This study helps in understanding how small changes in Attachments or behavior can affect Personality changes and in turn help the society understand people with Dark Tetrad Personality Traits and help them in their lives and prevent such condition to introduce new Dark Personalities. This also helps in building strong and long living Relationships and Friendships. The implications of present study has been discussed.

Family Functioning and Alexithymia: A Cross-Cultural Study in Pakistani and Australian Adults
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Nimra Zubair; SP20-BPY-011; Ms. Zaeema Farooq; LHR TP 8870
The present study is focused on investigating the relationship between family functioning and alexithymia, as well as to examine any cross-cultural differences in these factors among Pakistani and Australian adults. The sample for this cross-sectional study consisted of 250 adults, ranging in age from 18 to 40 years. Among them, 150 adults were from Pakistan, with an age range of 18 to 37, and 100 adults were from Australia, with an age range of 18 to 40. A convenient online mode of data collection was applied that enabled a wider range of individuals from Pakistan and Australia to participate. Self-report measures including the demographic questionnaire, Family Assessment Device (FAD), and Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) were used to assess the study variables. The correlation analysis demonstrated a positive relationship between alexithymia and general family functioning, as well as all subscales of family functioning in both the Pakistani and Australian samples. Indicating poor family functioning has a relationship with the prevalence of alexithymia in adults of both Australian and Pakistani groups. Hierarchical regression analysis also indicated that general family functioning and all subscales of family functioning (communication, problem-solving, roles, affective responsiveness, affective involvement, and behavior control) positively predicted alexithymia. Moreover, the independent samples t-test revealed that the prevalence of alexithymia was significantly different in family functioning, communication, roles, affective responsiveness, and affective involvement whereas there was no difference in externally oriented thinking, problem-solving, or behavioral control between Pakistani and Australian adults. The study's findings highlight the importance of family functioning in impacting individual's emotional expressiveness and the need for culturally sensitive therapeutic approaches.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between romantic jealousy, love, and marital quality in married couples. The sampling methods to collect data were convenient, purposive, and snowball sampling method. A sample of 200 married participants with a marriage duration between 2 and 15 years (M=5.07, SD= 3.27). Demographic Questionnaire, Romantic Jealousy Scale (Zahid &Tariq, 2020), The Traingular Love Scale (Sternberg,1989) and The Quality of Marriage Index ( Almaisi et al., 2018) were to be measured respectively. The Descriptives and Reliability Analysis, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Mediation through structural modelling were measured in the present study. The results of correlation analysis shows that romantic jealousy had a significant negative correlation with passion, commitment and marital quality. In mediation analysis love approves to play the mediator between romantic jealousy and marital quality. All paths are shown to be significant. These findings have important implications for clinical practice, education, research, couple therapy, policy-making, and public health policy. This study will contribute to prevention measures as emerging adults have to go later in their marital, social, and professional lives. Educational programs and couple therapy should be designed to promote healthy and responsible awareness about relationships and their dynamics to increase awareness in young couples. Future research should explore the underlying mechanisms consider moderating factors and do qualitative research on couples. Despite the limitation, this study will contribute to understating the determinant factors that affect the quality of love through jealousy among couples and the cause of the decrease in marital quality
