Abstract
In a typical modern society, around half of all the physical asset creation is the responsibility
of the construction industry, thereby, generating around 10% of national wealth (GDP)”.
Large development ventures are here and there alluded to as mega projects. “Construction as
an industry includes 6% to 9% of the total national GDP” (Chitkara, 1998). “Construction
begins with arranging plan and financing; it proceeds until the venture is fabricated and
prepared for use”. Construction industry has been the main source of air, water and noise
pollution (Fuertes et al., 2013). All these problems illustrate great concern towards
environmental sustainability measures by minimizing negative impacts of construction sites
(Janis, 2014).
In Pakistan, it is exceptionally uncommon case that construction project is finished on the
time indicated or settled upon. There are numerous development extends in Pakistan, which
endured delay or sometimes endured suspension or desertion. “Some examples of large
construction projects, which suffered delay or suffering delay, are: reconstruction of
Earthquake affected roads, reconstruction of Floods affected roads, China industrial cities in
Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan, Port tower complex by KPT,
Motorways of Pakistan, National Highways of Pakistan, and Kalabagh Dam” (Haseeb et al.,
2011). Pakistan’s construction sector the hot cake to remote investors assumes a critical role
in the economy of any nation. CPEC presently under construction in Pakistan is a key case of
a development in totality as all infrastructure ventures consolidated under its umbrella are
esteemed at $62 billion by 2017. Ongoing evaluations published in Pakistan economic survey
indicate the industry expansion by “9.1% in fy17 and contributed 2.7% to the nation’s GDP.”
