Abstract
Blood donation practices in Pakistan are still very shy of compared to other developing nations. In Pakistan less than 4% of total population donates blood regularly i.e. twice a year. The main provider of blood in Pakistan are blood banks which are mostly hospital based. The main problem with this practise is that blood has a short shelf life and can’t be stored for longer period. There is significant blood shortage even in metropolitan cities, where supply is even less than 40% of required. Almost 90% of blood is arranged through family and friends which make 10% donations made by volunteers. Our system will help in improving these numbers by providing a social network for blood donation where all donation are done by volunteers. Whenever a request is raised, the system automatically routes the request among blood teams and nearby volunteers and arranges blood in a matter of minutes. The gap between patient and donor is narrowed to a matter of minutes at no cost at all. The system removes the hurdles faced by volunteers in donating i.e. no means of transport. The integrated cab service uses donations by contributors to book a sab for blood donors, removing the most critical hurdle in donation. The system works in a way of removing obstacle, working efficiently and saving life.
