Verbal Abuse & It’s Impact On Personality Development
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Reda Nazar Sherazi; FA16-BDE-034; LHR TP 7107; Hira Nadeem
A common childhood proverb goes, "Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never harm me." Is it possible for words to cause as much damage as a physical assault? It's as normal as feeling pain when you're struck by a brick to feel pain caused by words (Elgin, 1995). Verbal abuse and how it effects a growing child has unbelievable results. Things we take light as a feather can cause drastic changes in one’s personality. Verbal abuse directly effects the mind, and mind is connected to the body. When mind doesn’t get the desired peace by the closest of people or the society, body starts to shrink invisibly. When body doesn’t get the required energy it starts to appear in the personality. Everything is interconnected and has a meaning so everything must be taken care of. Hanging up one's hat in disappointment, worries and crises don't allow us to analyze the situation and we end up burning in anger affecting the people of our surroundings too. The act of being patient is a lesson Islam teaches all of us and to go with it individually or collectively would lead us to promote the peace in society. Can we change the way how others react? Certainly not. But we can change the way we perceive things that would lead us towards a peaceful life. Coming towards morals, We merely know the definition of morals and that you feel good after and what immoral is what you feel bad after. When it comes to verbal Abuse, words get the most importance because this is where the problem starts in the first place; mouth. Words leave an ever lasting impact and other has no idea about the intensity of the impact. It is necessary to know that morals and ethics are two different things, ethics are those principles connected to person’s behaviour. Ethics are the home of religion. You could also describe ethics as moral philosophy or a code of moral practices. When a person learns to be ethical, it learns to be human. The aim of the study was to explain, with the goal of learning, the real-life, in-the moment experiences of people who were verbally abused as children and later as adults, as well as the meanings provided to those experiences. The issue begins in childhood. There was a need to figure out what was causing the verbal abuse. Verbal abuse has also been studied considered as one form of mental abuse that connects with human psychology, comes with a combination of sexual and psychological abuse in previous research. In order to learn and understand how the psychology of verbal abuse and violence works, this report used an axiological perspective-based analysis approach to focus solely on the meaning and effects of verbal abuse. Three adult women and two men who were verbally abused as children, including a man and woman who were verbally abused as adults but are coping effectively despite their traumatic childhood experiences, were interviewed. Following repeated readings of these five people's accounts. The question was raised as to whether or not these individuals may be the source of abusive behaviour, and the answer was yes. The findings of the report contributes In understanding what childhood verbal abuse is and where the problem lies. This research was in advantage of raising awareness about how damaging this type could be to one’s self-concept. Participation in the field of psychotherapy as an pubescent appears to plays vital role in breaking the non-adjustable cycle of verbal violence. Quantitative research methodology that includes interviews and questionnaires were adopted for this study. As a result of counselling and assistance, the mother who is most responsible for the nourishment of a child may become aware of the type of abuse and it’s history of how this kind of abuse and Violence kills a person slowly and steady. Around the world, Counselors are being trained to recognise the signs of verbal, psychological and few or the major signs of physical abuse. So they could come up with better solutions. It has definitely been ignored to pay right amount of attention to the issue of verbal abuse. But awareness could come at any stage in life. The findings indicate that, childhood verbal violence can have negative effects on the individual and can have drastic personality changes and disadvantages. But personality changes doesn’t mean we stop looking for solutions to amend what has been wronged. Why not one tries to learn how to be resilient and appear stronger for their own future. Past needs to be in the past but future doesn’t need to be on stake for what has happened in the past. Future studies on how mind effects body and what relationship does it have as well as age-related factors will be beneficial. Psychological mistreatment with youngsters has consistently remained unsuitable and ignored yet social standards should also be thought of. Practices that might be oppressive in certain societies could be satisfactory in others and may not be destructive on the off chance that they don't include the supplanting of adoration with dismissal and withdrawal. At the point when the conduct toward the kid passes on the way of life explicit message of dismissal or when it hinders the improvement of confidence, then, at that point it is psychological mistreatment, whatever the family's social standards (Hamarman and Bernet 2000).

    A Tolerated Language
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Muhammad Fahad; FA17-BDE-002; LHR TP 7103; HIRA NADEEM
Pakistan is a place of linguistic diversity, with over sixty languages spoken. Punjabi is a centuries-old language with a variety of mutually understandable accents. It is mostly spoken in Pakistan's Punjab province and India's Punjab province on the subcontinent. It belongs to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European language family. Pakistan is a multiethnic and multilingual region, with Punjabi being the mother tongue of 39 percent of Pakistan's population. Despite being the majority's native language in Punjab, the Punjabi language has only minor articulation in the lives of its native speakers. It is not permitted in educational or government settings, and it is not used there. Where it comes to the intergenerational transmission of Punjabi language, educated parents tend to communicate with their children in Urdu rather than Punjabi. Its meaning has dwindled over time, owing primarily to the speakers' social attitudes. The Punjabi speakers have a negative, if not insulting, stance toward their mother tongue. This is particularly true in Punjab's urban areas, where people are abandoning Punjabi in favor of Urdu in their daily lives (Rahman 2002). This paper aims to explore various attitudes of Punjabi people towards Punjabi language, such as why they don't prioritize speaking Punjabi and whether they really believe it is a foul language. Punjabi is a language that belongs to a certain community. To explore this phenomenon, an online survey research was conducted.

(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Maheera Shafiq; FA17-BDE-008; LHR TP 7101; Hira Nadeem
Gen Z, the kids born after 1996 or so, those kids are the first generation in history that got on social media in middle school and apart from them 90.4% social media users are millennials. Hence, the extensive use of social media is making people become a slave of the false reality created through social media which tends to mess with people’s mental health, identity formulation and their human existence. As a result of a perfect fake reality created through social media people are stuck in a loop of hyperreality losing the connection to the real world around them. The basic aim of this research is to educate and aware people about being conscious of their social media use and to regain their connection to the real world. Qualitative research was initiated first to understand the false reality created through social media and its consequences in the light of Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulation and simulacra, Franz Kafka “Kafkaesque” terminology and the impacts of social media addiction in the light of neuroscience, psychology, scientifically, and medically. Later a qualitative research was carried out in the form of surveys of around 15- 20 questions focusing on the age group 14-25 years old to prove the stance whether social media is creating a loop of hyperreality among people or not. As a result of which came forward that social media is creating a bubble of hyperreality among people and majority of respondents wants to break free from it but are so submerged and dependent on its use that they are unable to do take a conscious action.

Rythyms of Nature and its significance amongst youth for a sustainable future
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Khunsa Shafique; FA17-BDE-003; LHR TP 7100; Hira Nadeem
Our interaction with nature for euphonious growth is an integral part of every individual. Youth being the active participants, open to a lot of information and interpretation have the power to act and raise their voice against what’s necessary. The life we are leading today is completely dependent on technology which has steered us away from our connection with nature leading to our youth being disengaged from natural environment with a decreased sense to protect or interact with nature. The aim of this study was to determine the current status of youth’s connection to the rythyms of the earth (quantative through surveys) , the impact of disconnection as well as study nature connectedness and its importance from a scientific, mystical, clinical and cosmological point of view (qualitative). The studies proved the importance of this natural connection and how time spent in nature helps us function better as a whole. Furthermore, the research conducted made use of experimental method such as in-field research, derived from personal experience of time spent in nature for visual inspiration. Apart from this, the survey conducted was used to determine the nature connectedness scale in people aged between 20-29 age group. Questions in the survey focused on individuals understanding of their natural surroundings and their experience in nature. While most participants felt they were a part of a much larger systems, further results indicated that only a significant minority of respondents spent more than an hour of their time connecting with natural environment or actively speaking about it. Other than that, many respondents reported they felt disconnected from nature due to their stagnant routines of 9-5. These results supported the necessity for a conversation to spread awareness about the significance of the rythyms of the nature, the rythyms that allows us to flow seamlessly within the system.

COLORISM AND ITS IMPACT ON YOUNG MINDS
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Hamna Ayub Joyyia; FA17-BDE-005; LHR TP 7099; Hira Nadeem
The main idea of the report is to identify the root cause of colorism and its consequences, how it affects the physical and mental well-being of a person especially young children, how it impacts the society and how it is leading children towards self-doubt and making them lose confidence. The roots of the issue lead us to the era of white supremacy and how it shaped the society into what it is now. We will be discussing how hurtful discriminative behaviors can be, to create a sense of Empathy and awareness and to create a sense of realization among those who do not understand it’s impacts. Our media plays a vital part in promoting fairer skin as a symbol of beauty, and by promoting whitening products, which then contributes to this maltreatment and discrimination against people with darker skin tones. People and their personal experiences will also be discussed to have a better insight on the situation and how other people are coping up with it.

GLORIFICATION OF WOMEN IN CONTEXT OF ISLAM
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) FATIMA ABBAS; FA17-BDE-004; LHR TP 7098; Hira Nadeem
For as long as history has been, women have played a key part in society, but their contributions have been overlooked owing to inadequate application of Islamic law. As one of the most disputed topics in development circles today, the position of women in a Secular caliphate and the religious importance Islam has placed on a woman are both problems that provoke great debate. Because Pakistan is a liberal and Islamic state, there are unique difficulties when it comes to women's rights. This study aims to set the record straight by demonstrating that ‘Islam' as a religion does not have a negative impact on the advancement of women and their contributions to an Islamic society and to highlight the issue that people interpret their own understanding of religion into shariah which causes so many misconceptions about Islam, and we are blindly following them. The analysis of the study is based on the primary data from a survey (quantitative) conducted within the Pakistani audience and from various books and articles used Al-Quran with its tarjama as a reference. The results show that people ‘s perception about Islam is the result of lack of knowledge and awareness about true Islamic teachings as mentioned by Quran and Hadees and the misinterpretations of religion created by our doctrines for their own benefits. The knowledge about Islamic teachings is strengthened by making people aware of the women’s role and significance as described in Islam and by making them understand that Islam, in no way disregards the importance of women. Also, to depict the consequences that we are facing as an Islamic state by not following the true teachings of Islam. At the end of the day, it has been shown that Islam as a faith promotes and encourages women's rights, but our societal norms, habits, and ancient traditions which are derived from other faiths, and ignorance about the real teachings of Islam have caused women to be vulnerable today.
