Item BRADLAUGH HALL ADAPTTIVE REUSE OF BUILDING AND ITS SITE(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) MURAD AKRAM; FA16-BAR-024; AR USAMAN SAMI; LHR TP 7076Heritage buildings are critical in terms of convey the cultural identity for further generations. Where heritage buildings can no longer function with its original use, proposing a new function is inevitable in order to preserve the significance of the heritage buildingi. As we saw in Lahore many of our heritage buildings built for some purposes which has no longer exist now. They become or convert into an abandoned building due to multiple reasons which includes natural disaster, conflict and war or other crises. They play an important role to its surrounding as it shows the connection with the past. When the building became abandoned so in that scenario we have to put a new function into the building so that its historic importance increase and keep continue towards development. Same in the case of one of the historic building named as Bradlaugh hallii. It has an abandoned building which has no use for last 11 years and the reason of it abundance is natural disaster. For my thesis I selected that building and its site. Firstly, the data has been collected through literature survey and content analysis. Then, selected adaptive reuse examples have been investigated in the light of the defined factors. I collected all the relevant data and studied the history. At the end, the functions has been developed according to the results.Item FORGING VERTIGO: A VERTICAL CINEMATIC ENCLAVE(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) Hashim Azam; FA18-BAR-025; Usman Sami; LHR TP 8609The concept of creating a vertical film studio complex, named "Vertigo," which reimagines the traditional horizontal layout of film and television studios into a vertical structure. The objective of this project is to optimize space utilization in urban environment where land availability is limited while providing a state-of-the-art facility for film and television production and post-production activities which will act as a landmark for the city and the country itself. The proposed vertical cinematic enclave combines cutting-edge architectural design with innovative technological solutions, while also catering the existing cinema building through adaptive reuse. The vertical layout allows for multiple floors dedicated to different aspects of film production, such as sound stages, production offices, editing suites, post-production facilities, and screening rooms. Vertical transportation systems, advanced soundproofing techniques, and integrated production workflows ensure seamless collaboration and efficient use of resources. Vertigo aims to be a hub for creativity, collaboration, and technological advancement in the film industry. It will attract local and international filmmakers, artists, and production companies, fostering a vibrant community of talent and supporting the growth of the film industry in the region. The complex will also host film festivals, industry events, and educational programs to nurture emerging filmmakers and engage with the broader community. By embracing the existing site and the concept of a vertical cinematic enclave, Vertigo seeks to revolutionize the way films and other cinematic functions are produced, providing an innovative and sustainable solution for urban environments. The project aims to create a landmark that not only serves the needs of the film and television industry but also contributes to the cultural fabric of the city, becoming an iconic symbol of creativity and cinematic excellence.Item Lost Spaces Adaptive Reuse Of Peco Factory(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2016) Haroon Ahmed; FA12-BAR-059; Mr. Aksam; LHR TP 4812Lost Spaces: Adaptive Reuse of PECO Factory explores the transformation of an abandoned industrial site into a functional and meaningful space. The project focuses on preserving the historical and architectural value of the factory while repurposing it for contemporary uses such as cultural, commercial, or community activities. Through adaptive reuse, the design aims to revitalize neglected spaces, promote sustainability, and reconnect the site with the surrounding urban fabric.
