Abstract

Heritage buildings are critical in terms of convey the cultural identity for further generations. Where heritage buildings can no longer function with its original use, proposing a new function is inevitable in order to preserve the significance of the heritage buildingi. As we saw in Lahore many of our heritage buildings built for some purposes which has no longer exist now. They become or convert into an abandoned building due to multiple reasons which includes natural disaster, conflict and war or other crises. They play an important role to its surrounding as it shows the connection with the past. When the building became abandoned so in that scenario we have to put a new function into the building so that its historic importance increase and keep continue towards development. Same in the case of one of the historic building named as Bradlaugh hallii. It has an abandoned building which has no use for last 11 years and the reason of it abundance is natural disaster. For my thesis I selected that building and its site. Firstly, the data has been collected through literature survey and content analysis. Then, selected adaptive reuse examples have been investigated in the light of the defined factors. I collected all the relevant data and studied the history. At the end, the functions has been developed according to the results.
