Item The Impact of Knowledge Management on the Competitive Advantage of Small to Medium Enterprises in Pakistan(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2020-04-08) Rumeng He; FA16-RPM-013; Dr. Ghulam Hussain; LHR 6057Contrary to the majority of knowledge management research that focus on large firms in developed countries, this research focuses on Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan, a developing country, where 99 % of the total business establishments are made up of SMEs. The relationship between knowledge management, innovation and competitive advantage is explored in this thesis, as well as the moderating roles o f the secto r of business and size of firm. The questionnaire s urvey approach is used to gather data from the owners of around 160 SMEs operating in the fields of garment and textile, furniture, advertising, handicraft, food, consultancy , software/IT and tr ading. The results will then be analyzed through various statistical methods as appropriate . The expected findings for this study should demonstrate that knowledge management significantly and positively affects competitive advantage and that innovation also positively and significantly effects the competitive advantage. Conclusions drawn from this study can be beneficial to both practitioners and scholars in understanding and implementing knowledge management successfully thus improving and enhancing ove rall performance of firms and the economy in the context of developing countries.Item Impact of Team Knowledge Management, Problem Solving Competence, Interpersonal Conflicts on Project Performance(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2017) Haseeba Khadim; FA15-RPM-008; Dr Asma Imran; LHR TP 4772The current study has investigated the influence of team knowledge management on project performance through the mediating effect of problem solving competence and interpersonal conflicts of the team. The study explains that Information system development is a process of multiple problem solving which demands knowledge management of diverse knowledge resources. Team diversity causes interpersonal conflicts among team members, which are encouraged to promote creativity, innovation and team building. Data is collected by survey method from the sample of 187 information system project managers/team leaders, who were employed in software houses of the Lahore city. Hypothesis and mediation tested with the use of a second generation multivariate data analysis method called structural equation modeling. According to the results it has been confirmed, that problem solving competence and interpersonal conflicts mediates the effect of team knowledge management on project performance. Results of analysis supported the theoretical model. Based on resource base view and conflict theory, study affirms the importance of team knowledge management and impact of interpersonal conflicts on Information System Development project.Item THE IMPACT OF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING EVALUATION AND KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: A CASE STUDY OF TM RUBBER PVT. LTD. PAKISTAN(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) ZAIB ASHFAQ; FA17-BBA-017; LHR TP 6713; SHAKEEL ASLAMThe goal of this research is to determine the relationship between education and development and employee success. In addition, this analysis measures the effect of planning and development on training appraisal and information management and the impact on the efficiency of knowledge management and curriculum assessment personnel. The study has been conducted at TM Rubber Pvt. Ltd Pakistan office and the data has been collected through survey and open-ended questionnaire. And I have also been there as a trainee in HR and Marketing department from last three months moreover I have collected date from 200 respondents. The collected data was then analysed using numerous statistical methods, such as cross-tabulation, reliability study, and linear regression. The results of this study suggest that T&D services at the TMR program in Pakistan do not achieve the required level, as the organization claims on its website while the company must make excellent attempts to develop T&D initiatives and programmes. However, the T&D programs have important beneficial effects on information processing, recruitment and staff productivity that greatly increase management of the company's knowledge structure and performance by enhancing T&D systems. It has also been shown that information management and preparation appraisal systems greatly enhance the efficiency of workers. The results of the trial not only opened up a new study direction in the Middle East training and development discipline, but also provided the TMR Management an insights into revising its training and development policies to boost the attractiveness and production of training programmes.Item An Assessment of human resource management practices and its impact on Organizational outcomes: A Case of PEF (Punjab Education Foundation)(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2015-02-04) Asma Batool; FA12-MSPM-004; LHR TP 4301The conducted study aimed at investigating relationship between human resource practices, knowledge management and organizational outcomes in project based education organization Punjab Education Foundation in Pakistan. In addition, the study examined the relationship human resource practices (HR practices) (effective communication, job design, staffing, rewards and incentives, career development, job security, work life balance and appraisal. The main study was conducted through sample of 248 employees working at different level in Punjab Education in between 25 and 50 and above belonging to the city of Lahore, Rwalpindi and Multan. Survey method was used to collect data comprising of three sections including the demographic sheet, human resource management practices scale, knowledge management scale and organizational outcomes scale. Moreover, multiple regression analysis for Baron and Kenny (1986) steps four mediation analysis performed. The results showed that knowledge management partial mediated between effective communication (β= .493, p=0.000), job design (β= .457, p=0.000), staffing (β= .398, p=0.000), rewards and incentives (β= .336, p=0.000), career development (β= .336, p=0.000), job security (β= .340, p=0.000) and work life balance variables (β= .375, p=0.000) and fully mediated between appraisal (β= .303, p=0.000) organizational outcomes. The PEF has moderate level of working environment and organizational strategies.
