Finding the impacts of control types and moderating roles of risk types on process performance is the main contribution of this study because the information technology industry of Pakistan is facing problems of lack of control and risk. Empirical data is collected from large and medium scale information technology companies based in Lahore city. Empirical data is tested by using SPSS technique and results are deduced. All the hypotheses of the study are validated. The results showed that informal control and formal control has a positive impact on process performance because to enhance better control is improving the chances of better process performance. User and requirement risk are used as moderating variables. It is found that user risk and requirement risk have a negative impact on the relationship between control and process performance. Both of these risk lead to miss commitments and process performance is compromised. Hence, it is the responsibility of Project Manager (PM) to enhance control of the project and to avoid, reduce or minimize the unfavourable effects of user and requirement risk on process performance.Item The impact of Enterprise Resource Planning integration on the Performance: A case of Multinational Engineering Firm(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2018) Kanwal Iqbal; FA16-RPM-001; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 5211This study aims to investigate the process of implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in multinational organization in Pakistan. The modern organizations have competitive edge in the market due to in time project delivery with accurate information. The integrated databases helps in accessing information quickly. The decision for the new projects are taken according to the previous information. ERP is considered as useful application for process automations and effective decision making. It is comprised of review of the relevant literature, business process efficiency and effectiveness of implementing ERP before and after and highlighting critical success factors in implementation of ERP. The successful implementation of ERP is only possible if the success factors are critically monitored. The success rate of ERP is very low in developing countries. The study is conducted in particular context of a multinational engineering firm with its head operations in Pakistan. By employing Mix-method approach, it first quantitatively evaluates the process times involved in bidding and budgeting processes before and after the implementation of ERP. Then qualitatively, it aims to highlight critical success factor of implementing ERP through semi-structured interview. The major contribution of research is, the benefits of implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning in developing countries at large and in Pakistan in particular, help provide guidelines for firm owners, employees and Quality managers in transforming organizational policies in order to have competitive edge in the market.Item Impact of External Factors on Lending Rate of Microfinance institutions: An Empirical Evidence(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2015-02-03) Nida Fatima; FA13-MBO-016; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 4304In microfinance high lending rate has recently become an important topic in ethical debate because of its impact on poor borrowers and lenders. Microfinance institutions are moving towards commercialization in an effort to become sustainable and profit oriented. Lending rate is an essential element in covering up the cost of loans in microfinance so it needs to be set at a rate so that it is desirable and affordable for both the borrowers and lenders. There are certain underlying external factors contributing towards higher lending rate which are many others related to (business environment, financial developments and macroeconomic environment). This paper adds to the debate by providing empirical evidence on the impact of various external factors on lending rate in microfinance by controlling certain variables. A panel data set for a sample of 493 worldwide MFIs from the year 2008-12 has been generated from the MIX market website and the World Bank website. By employing random effect model our findings suggest that business environment, financial developments and macroeconomic environment have a role in driving lending rate in microfinance.”Item Impact Of Service Quality On The Brand Loyalty: A Case Of Pizza Hut Restaurants In Lahore(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2014-02-02) Neelma Gul; FA12-MSPM-018; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 4310In a cutthroat competition and rapidly changing environment, it is difficult to retain customers. The literature highlights that customer satisfaction can be achieved by maintaining service quality standards. This study analyzed the effect of service quality on brand loyalty (attitudinal and behavioural loyalty) with the mediating role of customer satisfaction and controlling the impact of demographic variables (age, gender, marital status, number of children and income) on customer satisfaction and brand loyalty. The sample of the study consists of customers of the Pizza Hut in Lahore city. Data is collected through questionnaires adopted from different empirical studies. Confirmatory Factor analysis and multiple regression analysis are used to analyze, model fitness and variables relationship with each other. The results show that service quality and its dimensions show positive impact on brand loyalty. Only tangibility shows an insignificant impact on brand loyalty. Customer satisfaction partially mediates service quality and brand loyalty. Further, demographic variables have no impact on brand loyalty and customer satisfaction. Therefore, it is recommended that Pizza Hut management should focus on improving service quality in order to achieve loyalty of customers, and management should also focus on customer focused behavioural training among employees in order to improve quality of services.Item Investigating the Role of Social and Financial Performance in Corporate Governance of Microfinance Institutions; An Empirical Evidence from Asia(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2014-02-02) Sana Iqbal; FA12-MSMS-028; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 4442Good corporate governance is considered as a basic building block of success for microfinance institutions as it helps them in achieving their social and financial goals. Endogeneity poses a serious threat to the authenticity of corporate governance and performance studies because of the endogenous nature of many governance and performance variables. The underlined study addresses the issue of endogeneity in governance and performance relationship in microfinance sector of Asia by answering the question whether social and financial performance determines the corporate governance mechanism of MFIs in Asia. Microfinance institutions of Asia work exclusively with the mission of social welfare hence play an important role in the economic and financial development of a region. This study uses an index of corporate governance, constructed on the basis of seven internal governance mechanism variables, as an indicator of the overall corporate governance mechanism of MFIs. A panel of 173 MFIs from 18 Asian countries for a period of five years is selected as a final sample. Data is collected from MIX market website and their risk assessment reports and is analyzed on STATA 11 and SPSS 17 for hypothesis testing. By employing GLS model, our results indicate insignificant impact of corporate governance on financial and many social performance variables which are attributed to the endogenous nature of this relationship as the significance of results improved by studying relationship in reverse direction by employing ordered logit model. Our results indicate that social performance is an important determinant of corporate governance mechanism of MFIs even after controlling for MFI related characteristics while financial performance has little effect on the governance practices of microfinance institutions.Item Impact of Human Resource on the efficiency of Microfinance Institutions: An empirical investigation.(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2015-01-30) Rabiya Rasool; SP13-MSP¬M-016; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 4330This study investigated how human resource (HR) contributes towards the efficiency of microfinance institutions (MFIs). Cost per borrower has been used as a proxy of efficiency. Human resource is one of the nine knowledge areas in Project Management on which this study focused on. To alleviate poverty, Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) deal with every new intervention as a project and therefore, project management is helpful in a sense that it contributes to the efficiency of microfinance. As, for the survival, MFIs have taken a turn towards sustainability and commercialization. The quality of service delivery in the microfinance industry depends on person to person contact and relationship. Due to various challenging circumstances in business, MFIs competitive position keeps on changing constantly. Hence, it has become more human resource-intensive where sourcing of skilled and quality human resources can play a crucial role in sustaining the growth of this industry. Using a panel data set of around 491 MFIs, this study investigated the impact of HR variables i.e. personnel allocation ratio, personnel expenses and staff productivity on the efficiency of microfinance by controlling external and internal factors. By employing random effect model our findings suggest that staff productivity and personnel allocation ratio improves the efficiency of an MFI, whereas, personnel expenses have a positive significant relation with cost per borrower.Item DOES PAKISTAN CHINA FREE TRADE AGREEMENT ENDED UP IN TRADE CREATION OR DIVERSION? AN EMPERICAL INVESTIGATION(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2015-01-30) Lubna Uzair; FA13-REC-006; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 4322This study investigates about Jacob Viner’s trade creation and diversion effect in “Pakistan-China Free Trade Agreement” Trade creation and diversion impacts are analyzed by constructing import demand equations both from China and rest of the world by using tariff concession as an independent variable in both equations. For estimation purpose “Harmonized System” data at two digit level is used for imports and tariffs from 2006 to 2012. Import demand equations have been estimated by employing panel data. Estimates of panel model suggest that Pakistan-China trade agreement is not tradeItem The Moderating Role of Risk on Informal and Formal Control on Process Performance: An Evidence from Lahore base IT firms(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamaabad Lahore Campus, 2019) Umar Munir; SP17-RPM-003; Dr. Ahmad Nawaz; LHR TP 5699The main focus of this study is to inquire about the impact of control on process performance with the moderating role of risk in the information technology industry of Lahore, Pakistan.
