We often see in rise of such school where there is no ample open space or playable space and extra-curricular activities which would develop a child mentally and physically. Rise of such school is for number of reasons mainly because of the capitalist approach by the school owners, either they convert their rental small homes to be school, or even if they get some space to spare they build a classroom to get more admissions eventually getting more revenue. Though children are receiving the quantitative aspect of learning i.e. the basic curriculum and parents are somehow okay with that conventional method of schooling as they are functional efficiently but they ignore the qualitative aspect of education which is responsible for bringing the creativity and effectiveness among the children. This traditional model of schooling takes away the freedom and liberty of a child making them restrictive. Such daily activities in these types of schools make children bore and dull minded with zero creative skills being developed in them. Therefore, a third space in needed where primarily concerned with children's physical, social, and perceptual development. Physical growth can be accomplished by offering varied spaces for sports and games, whereas social growth necessitates the inclusion of interactive areas in the structure. The physical and social aspects are addressed by designating areas for them, while the perceptual aspect is clarified through architecture and the overall structureItem ACTIVE URBAN HUB(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Anzah Muhammad; FA16-BAR-037; LHR TP 7084Living in the metropolitan city with continuous development is hanging the lifestyle of people. The life becomes so fast and everything is on one click of internet. People are forced to adapt sedentary lifestyle because of unavailability of spaces to interact, thus lifestyle diseases are increasing day by day with high rate. These diseases are not only in adults but also in youth. People are unable to understand and abilities due to sedentary lifestyle they have adapted, and facing issues day by day. Youth of today is more involved in sedentary behavior. There is need to enlighten the youth in space regarding their health and social interaction where they will understand their selves and will release out their eager and in energy in good manner.Item Age Is Just A Number(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Tanees Shahbaz; CIIT/FA15-BDE-009/LHR; Miss Ayesha Saeed; LHR TP 5784Age Is Just a Number explores the idea of active, inclusive, and dignified living across all stages of life. Cholistan is one of the areas which are still unexplored. The rich culture and history of that area along with the spice of festivities is a potential tourism magnet attracting leisurely youngsters to learned scholars of history and archeology. The intend of this thesis is to explore the local culture and traditions of the Cholistan desert along with the indigenous architecture and way of living. Cholistan jeep rally is one of the key features now of the area. This international event has triggered the economic growth of that area and has forced to improve the infra-structure of that area and financial conditions of the locals. In this area a desert resort is desirable to cater the tourism needs of the area. Cholistan Desert being the area of attraction, building has to reflect local building norms. Rich fort architecture of that area will be explored along with the manipulative techniques used by locals to survive in wilderness of the over powering desert giving the visitor a experience of sandy landscape views.Item An environmentally wise and culturally appropriate community school for the desert community at Derawar, Cholistan(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) MUHAMMAD MOIZ KHAN; FA18-BAR-045; Shariyeh Hosseini; LHR TP 8618Living in the harsh climate and barren landscape of a desert presents numerous challenges, particularly in finding suitable shelters that meet physical, psychological, and social needs. Vernacular architecture has traditionally provided solutions to these requirements. However, in Derawar Village, the shift from local practices to industrial architectural products has been observed in recent years. These practices often disregard the local climate, culture, and environment. Derawar has witnessed significant infrastructural development in the past two decades, including basic amenities like water supply, electricity, roads, and internet access. These changes have influenced the community's perception of the built environment. Tourism is also flourishing in the area due to architectural heritage and events like jeep rally which is affecting the local socioeconomics. Consequently, the community faces challenges in adapting to contemporary circumstances while preserving their architectural identity. On the other hand, many guest houses and resorts have been constructed in Derawar, mimicking local aesthetics but employing modern materials, equipment, and techniques. These structures fail to engage and benefit the local population while also causing harm to the environment. Government buildings, such as schools and dispensaries, constructed for the locals, often do not align with local culture and climate, resulting in discomfort for the users.Item An Integrated Center Of Rehabilitation For Drug(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2018) FIZZA KALSUM; FA13-BAR-006; Dr. Habah Hashmi; LHR TP 4952An Integrated Center of Rehabilitation for Drug Addiction” is conceived as a holistic facility that supports recovery through medical treatment, psychological care, and social reintegration. Unfortunately, analysis of a design to uncover the unintended consequences of early decisions often takes place late in the design process, if at all. For example, the target audience, the number of users, their activities, their schedule, behavior, the nature of being innocent or violent, and the nature of believing in combined ownership and so on in the early stages, can have great effect in latter decision makings. Architecture is sculpted by context, where many parameters within the context (as mentioned above) contribute to the overall fitness of a building. Some combinations of design elements offer more benefit than others. This iterative cycle of variation and selection occurs naturally when architects refine their design tools. Using the different tools for collecting data (the parameters which involve in the overall performance of the area in the city) in many manual ways, we can create positive impacts on the overall performance of the selected area and project in the city.Item ARCHITECTURE IN THE AGE OF 6TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2022) Rimsha Ahmad; FA18-BAR-022; Meekal chughtai; LHR TP 8608This thesis report aims to explore the role of vocational training institute architecture as a catalyst for empowering unskilled labor in Lahore, Pakistan. It leads to the investigation of how a building can represent the ideology of a brand and produce a landmark project that develops a time specific. The invention of car has made the life easier and more comfortable, their interaction with man, nature of adaptability and the power of shortening distances with the use of high technology has made it earn the title of user friendly. This project helps the brand to create a standpoint in the market of automobile products in a specific context. It mimics the dynamic exploration in the field of automobile in architecture. Leading towards the process of form making. It expresses the brand perception of reality in tangible form. The form is aimed to characterize by the fundamentals of geometric forms, and utilizing analogue forms by abstracting and manipulating the architectural elements such as floors, roof and ground. Time specific architecture shows the time in which the building is. Iconic architecture has become the landmark for the region and it also show movement and dynamism through their form. They should be iconic so they show the history of the brand development.
