Item Developing a Speech Recognition System for the Urdu Language(Library Information Services, COMSATS University, Lahore Campus, 2021) Muhammad Ibtesam Arshad Hamza Safdar; FA17-BSE-061 FA17-BSE-013; Dr. Rao Muhammad Adeel Nawab, Assistant Profesor; LHR TP 7015Automatic Speech Recognition Systems (ASR) are used to convert the acoustic signals which are caught through the microphones into the sequence of words. The Automatic Speech Recognition Systems (ASR) empower the machines to react correctly, reliably, and effectively to human speech or voice and offer helpful and important services to the users. The interaction with computers or gadgets is faster, simpler, and easier, through voice or speech instead of typing through the keyboard or console, so the people will prefer Speech Recognition Systems. Speech Recognition Systems will facilitate the users in workplaces, in marketing, in banking, in health care, in language learning, and in the education field also. This project aims to design and the implementation a Speech Recognition System for the Urdu Language. In this first phase, we have collected data for the Urdu Language. To build a general Speech Recognizer, a huge amount of data is needed. In the second phase, we have implemented our System. In the final phase, we have trained and tested our Model. This model is Similar to Deep Speech 2 Models. Especially for students, as this can help them immensely to develop communication skills, Knowledge increment, stress relief, a boost of innovative ideas, etc. But not everyone can reach to read and write easily because of hurdles like money, portability, time, expert writing skills, etc. With the ever-growing percentage of digitization in the world, an online reading and writing platform would be the best solution for the above-mentioned problem. As die-heart readers, we personally face many hurdles when we want to access a particular book. The old system of publishing was manual or documented or not fully online and for reading, you needed to pay manually or digitally (for eBook). There were restrictions on having expert writing skills, getting your writing proofread before publishing, etc. So, it is the need of time to develop an online platform where readers and writers can be facilitated. We aim to reduce the hurdles that writers and readers face. It shall be centered majorly on Islamic principles with different categorical short story-based animations with storytelling topics including Action, Mystery, Adventurous and some self help Islamic topics such as economics inclusive of the importance of love for the Creator and some life changing lessons regarding Islam. As Animation graphics can be extremely expressive and effective if correct visual approach for the story-telling element are used. Principles of Islam can easily be comprehended using such vital method by the viewer and user. We will be making these animations episodic and appropriate for all ages. These video animations will be visualized and emerged into an android application which will consist of all of our created animated series as well as options for the user to indulge in the content by providing quizzes and answering questions based on the animation content a user has watched to provide an insight that what have they learned regarding Islam? Moreover, inclusive of capability to discuss, review and rate our animation content for user and purchasing likeable arts.
