Item Design and Implementation of a Hybrid Supervisory Controller for the Speed Control of PMSM under Load Variations(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Muhammad Tayyab; SP21-REE-005; Dr. Mirza Tariq Hamayun; LHR TP 8474The control of speed in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) is a crucial aspect in various industrial domains, including electric vehicles, automation, and sustainable energy infrastructures. The maintenance of consistent speed control in PMSM encounters difficulties when faced with fluctuations in load. This research aims to demonstrate the implementation of a Proportional-Integral (PI) controller, Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), and a hybrid controller which is a combination of PI and ANN in the speed regulation of PMSM while considering the variations in load. The hybrid controller that merges the benefits of a PI controller and an ANN controller is utilized to address the challenge of load variation. The PI controller is a reliable and consistent method of speed control, while the ANN contributes to adaptive control and improved performance in the presence of dynamic loads. The hybrid controller operates through the iterative adjustment of control inputs in response to motor feedback. The proportional and integral gains of the PI controller are tuned using ANN. The ANN learns the complex link between input parameters (e.g., motor speed, load torque) and the needed control action through a learning process. The controller's PI component delivers control signals proportionate to the difference between the reference and real motor speeds, resulting in fast responsiveness and stability. This allows the controller to adjust to changing load conditions and optimize the motor's reaction to keep the target speed. The controllers have been implemented in MATLAB/SIMULINK and it has been observed that the PI controller produced the mean square error (MSE) and root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.389 and 0.6236 respectively. The ANN model produced the MSE and RMSE of 0.021155 and 0.1454 respectively. Then the MSE and RMSE produced by PI-ANN are observed as 0.000458 and 0.02144 respectively. The results demonstrate that the PI-ANN controller produced the least MSE and RMSE followed by ANN and PI. There are various advantages of using a PI-ANN hybrid controller for PMSM speed control on load variation. It improves system adaptability by allowing the controller to modify control parameters in response to real time load variances.Item Destruction of Landscape: An Ecocritical Study of Hemingway’s Major Novels (A Farewell to Arms, For Whom the Bell Tolls and The Old Man and the Sea)(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2018) Muhammad Tayyab; SP16-REL-010; Dr. Jaleel Akhtar; LHR TP 5316New critical approaches to literature reveal hidden themes which improve our understanding of literary works. Ecocriticism is a combination of ecology and literature. It is an interdisciplinary field in which literary works are analysed in the light of ecological discourses. According to Aristotelian theory, settings play a vital to understand a literary work. Eco critics explore literary works to explain environmental conditions in literature. Earnest Hemingway presents wars and intrusion of machines on panoramic meadows. He depicts macho animal killers in his work. He presents outdoor activities through fishing, bullfighting and hunting. These activities create environmental degradation. His primitiveness creates eco-ambiguity. Warships in his two novels, A Farewell to the Arms and For Whom the Bells Tolls highlight destruction of environment because of human activities. In panoramic meadows, soldiers fight each other which creates destruction for humans as well as for ecosystem. In The Old Man and the Sea, Hemingway depicts marine life. Young fishermen exploit seascape with their modern fishing techniques in the sea. Bullfighting, hunting and fishing are blood sports. These games exploit non-human world. Hunting and fishing might be presented as search for wilderness. Hemingway’s primitivism projects his characters’ contradicting fight against natural environment. This study attempts to understand the interplay of human activities, like war and hunting, and their destructive impact on the landscape through the lens of ecocriticism.Item Exploring the Influence of Online Negative Reviews on Consumer Decision-Making: A Case Study of Honda HRV(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Muhammad Tayyab; A22-RBA-023; Dr. Jawaria Fatima; LHR TP 9446This research focuses on the impact of negative reviews on consumer decision making by using the case study of Honda HR-V in Pakistan. The objective of this study is to explore whether negative reviews effect the brand reputation, trust and sales of their product in the automotive industry. By collecting and analyzing data from online review platforms and those individual online consumers who want to buy Honda by visiting these review platforms, the study illustrates the extent to which negative reviews have impact on the brand of Honda. The data is analyzed with available secondary research data of Honda in Pakistan and I find results that negative reviews also can turn off the potential buyers but moderated by many factors like credibility of the reviewer, the overall balance of positive and negative reviews and the specification of the reviews. Furthermore, the study identifies strategies used by the Author and other auto brand's team to prevent any damage from a negative review, such as smart customer service and proper communication, getting positive reviews to mitigate negativity etc. which will help reader in the automotive industry to make the right business decision. The research contributes on further studies related to the impact of digital word of mouth.Item Nanocomposite of Conductive Polymer Decorated with Metal / Metal Oxide as Electrochemical Sensing Probe for Phenolic Derivatives(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2020-02-20) Muhammad Tayyab; FA18-R06-007; Dr. Lubna Sherin; LHR TP 6490The purpose of this research project is to modify the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) with copper polyaniline (Cu-PANI) to electrochemically detection of 4-aminophenol. Therefore, copper polyaniline (Cu-PANI) is synthesized through chemical oxidation polymerization, and then copper (Cu) is injected into the polyaniline. Copper nanoparticles interact with the mobile groups of polyanilines through electrostatic force (van der Waals force). Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) studies confirmed the presence of functional groups in the synthesized nanocomposites, energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) confirmed the Cu doping into polyaniline and composition of nanocomposites, scanning electron microscope (SEM) confirmed the morphology of Polyaniline (PANI), and size of the Cu-PANI morphology. In cyclic voltammetry (CV), modified (Cu-PANI)/GCE electrode behaviour showed toward 4-AP was studied in the presence of supporting electrolyte (0.1 M H2SO4) with optimized potential window range (0.2 to 0.8 V) at 50mV/s scan rate. The electron transfer was the study of Cu-PANI/GCE at 0.52V oxidation peak and with different concentration as well. The qualitative technique differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was performed to determine the linear response (5μM to 2mM) of 4-AP with lower limit detection is 10μM. The Cu-PANI/GCE showed sensitivity and selectivity for 4-AP and even in the presence of organic interference species. This improved electrode is cheap, robust, selective, and sensitive, and has an excellent volume to surface ratio. Therefore, the produced electrochemical sensor has good sample analyzer activity and is equally effective in analyzer sewage, tap-water, and industrial wastewater as well.Item NYCD (Now You Can Drive)(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus., 2020-11-20) Muhammad Tayyab; FA16-BCS-269; Sara Muneeb; LHR TP 6172In this project we focused on making a 3D game on unity which is android compatible, this game will provide a medium for the next generation to learn traffic signs. Currently there are not many digital mediums to learn about traffic signs, the current games that are already available are not that intuitive and fun to play, our game looks much better visually and aesthetically. On top of being beautiful our game also supports VR (Virtual Reality). Users will experience multiple scenarios related to each sign, this will help the player to increase his/her knowledge on traffic signs. There is a need for this type of project because it will enable people to learn about traffic rules, that may result in saving more lives. According to PAKISTAN BUREAU OF STATISTICS, in 2019’s first two months, around 1200 accidents happened out of which 58% were fatal crashes. This game can serve as a testing tool of one’s knowledge as well, if user wants to test his knowledge on traffic signs then he/she should play without reading the instructions and documentation on signs, that way the player will be able to test his/her knowledge. Along with this game an animation will also be made on unity which will explain the documents required for different types of driving licenses.Item PETSVET-Online Doctor and Boarding Facilities Final Year Project(Library Information Services, CUI Lahore, 2023) Muhammad Tayyab; SP19-BCS- 144; Sabeen AmjadThe idea behind this project is to facilitate pet owners.
