(library information services, CUI Lahore, 2016) Humaira Batool; CIIT/FA13-MBO-034/LHR; Dr. Summaira Malik; LHR TP 4364
Pakistan is a male dominated society and women empowerment is need of time for development and economic growth. Females are more than 50 percent of Pakistan’s aggregate population. On an average, the condition of women of Pakistan is one of systemic subordination of gender. Microfinance plays a crucial role in improving women empowerment through making their position economically strong inside and outside the homes. Multan city is 3rd largest in Punjab province and during the past few decades, Multan has grown in all directions like in the industrial sector, education sector, infrastructure, banking sector, health sector and in trade and commerce. Using the quantitative data from Multan, this research study empirically investigates the microfinance loan’s services impact on the women economic empowerment of Pakistan in the context of Multan, Pakistan. This research study uses different indicators of economic empowerment to measure women economic empowerment and shows that women members of microfinance institutions (MFIs) are more empowered compared to non- members. In the total of 300 women, 200 women are participants of MFI and 100 women are non-participants of MFI in the questionnaire survey. The obtained data is analyzed by using Independent-samples t-test as it is the comparison of two different independent groups. Overall the results show that there is a positive relationship between MFI and women economic empowerment in Multan. Women participants of MFI have greater role in decision making, more autonomy in mobility, greater control over income and savings generated from income generating activities, more role in employment generation and increased ownership of productive assets and property.

Investigating the Relationship between Change Order Determinants and Project Performance: An evidence from educational building projects in KPK province, Pakistan
(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamaabad Lahore Campus, 2018) Sami Ur Rehman; FA16-RPM-011; Dr. Summaira Malik; LHR TP 5213
Construction projects are difficult to complete without having changes to the original scope. Change orders are very common in modern construction projects and are often generated from different sources which can create complications for the project performance. Good educational infrastructure has a great impact on the achievement of better education. However, many research studies have identified the critical role of project complexity between change orders and project performance but there is hardly any study which has empirically tested these relationships on educational building projects in case of Pakistan. Thus this study aims to identify the main factors causing change orders and to analyze their potential effects on project performance, and to develop recommendations for the effective control of these change orders specifically in the context of educational building projects in KPK Province, Pakistan where variation orders are considered more common due to lack of research and development in this region of the country. This study also explores the mediating role of project complexity between change order and project performance. Primary data collected through a standardized questionnaire from the construction professionals involved in 25 completed educational building projects in KPK. Results of this study reveal that there exists a significant relationship between change orders and project performance and project complexity significantly mediates the relationship between change orders and project performance. Hence it is concluded that change orders have directly an adverse impact on project performance as well as the determinants of change orders create complexity in project which leads undesirable results in project performance. To improve project performance, the construction professionals must pay attention to minimize the adverse effects of change orders by handling the project complexity in an effective manner.

(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Zoya Yaseen; FA19-REC-003; LHR TP 8477; Dr. Summaira Malik
This study aimed to explore the impact of sustainable tourism factors - economic, environmental, and sociocultural- on Murree residents with the mediating effect of quality of life and residents' support towards tourism development. In this cross-sectional study, data was collected from the local community of Murree, Pakistan. This study opted for a non-probability sampling technique using a close-ended questionnaire. The response rate of the local community was 85.7%. The present study analyzed the demographic of sample size, descriptive statistics, and correlation. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used for confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), internal accuracy and validity estimations, hypothesis testing, and mediation testing. The empirical findings revealed the significant and positive mediating role of quality of life between economic impact, sociocultural impact, environmental impact, and support for tourism development. The study also indicated that the majority of the local community supports tourism, but is also most concerned about the high prices, traffic blockage, overcrowding, and making natural landscapes less available. The study emphasizes on the responsibilities of local government in the development of sustainable tourism through well-planned and targeted policies.
