Abstract
The main purpose of this study is to analyse the impact of Governance of Project
Management and Benefit Realization Management on Project success with the
mediating role of Benefit Realization Management in context of Projects in Pakistan
Railways. The impact of Governance of Project Management, Benefit Realization
Management on Project success is the major contribution of this study in context of
Pakistan Railways as this sector has been condemned for many years because of the
falling number of customers and its inadequacy to contribute in the economy of
Pakistan. Empirical data is collected from the Professionals of Pakistan Railways
working on Projects in different departments namely Department of Mechanical
Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Signals and
Telecommunication Engineering and Directorate of Information Technology. The
collected data from the aforementioned departments is analysed through Structured
Equation Modelling (SEM). The results showed that Governance of Project
Management is positively related to Project success furthermore the Benefit Realization
Management is also positively related to Project success and Benefit Realization
Management partially mediates the relationship between Governance of Project
management and Project success in context of Projects in Pakistan Railways, a state
owned organization.
