Impact of transformational leadership style on project success: The mediating role of team-building between transformational leadership and project success
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2018) Ayyaz Anjum; CIIT/SP14-MSPM-008/LHR; Dr. Muhammad Usman; LHR TP 4854
Impact of transformational leadership on project success has empirically approved, but how this mechanism has the influence on project success is not known well. This research thesis determines the mechanism that how transformational leadership affects the project success and how team building mediates the relationship and enhances the influence of transformational leadership on project success. This study also determines the effect of transformational leadership on team building practices. To examine the mediation of team building between transformational leadership (IV) and project success (DV), data was collected from 209 project team members of information technology (IT) and construction sector. For empirical analysis, Baron and Kenny (1986) mediation method is used with hierarchal multiple regression. The legitimacy of team building mediation is further confirmed by the Sobel’s (1982) test. The results of hierarchal multiple regression (HMR) confirms that transformational leadership (IV) positively influence project success (DV) and team building partially mediates the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Theoretical and practical effects of these outcomes are also discussed in this research thesis.

(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Muhammad Anees Ul Hasnain Haider; FA18-RPM-015; Dr. Muhammad Usman; LHR TP 7212
In recent times, intellectual Capital has gained precedence among the world’s business circles; this is because it enhances the organizational capacity to create value for the customer. The focus of Project Management towards creating Value warrants that due importance should be given to management of intellectual capital along with management of conventional capital. Intellectual capital has many constituent variable; however, this study focuses on the variables: Human Capital and Structural Capital. This study aimed to explore and explain the impact of intellectual capital on the organization’s value creation for the customer, along with analyzing the mediating impact of innovative ability of the employees on the said relation. The study (based in Pakistan, Lahore and Islamabad) focused on the manufacturing and service industry; as earlier studies on intellectual capital were only confined to banking sector. For this purpose, the sample of 219 volunteers provided the data (collected through a questionnaire) for the quantitative analysis of the proposed relations. The results affirm the established hypothesis. The impact of Intellectual Capital on Value creation turns out to be significant, along with innovative ability partially mediating the relation between the two. Following Chapters, discuss the research work done in detail.

(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2019) Syed Sajjad Ahmad Bilgrami; FA17-RPM-001; Dr. Muhammad Usman; LHR TP 5704
Number of projects are increasing exponentially every year. Although organizations put a lot of effort in making the project a successful in order to gain financial, economic and organizational growth. So a successful project can boost morale within organization along with the substantial financial growth and customer’s satisfaction. But often the execution of project faces failure. There are lot of factors involved in the failure of projects which includes the hard skill i.e. technical and the soft skill i.e. emotional intelligence, leadership etc. But recent researchers are pointing to the importance of soft skill to make a project successful. This research used a quantitative approach to comprehend how soft skill i.e. emotional intelligence (EI) of manager plays part in project success. In this study a model associating emotional intelligence to project success was tested and the mediating effects of two work attitudes i.e. job satisfaction and trust was examined on this association. The quantitative facts were gather from 286 managerial persons involved in construction firms of Lahore. Statistical tests shows that there is a positive association between EI and project success. Also this relationship is partially mediated by Job Satisfaction and Trust variables. This study will help the organizations to select a suitable candidate having high emotional intelligence in order to make the project successful. Also this study shows organizations that having high job satisfaction and trust among the team members will significantly affect the success of the project. As far as theoretical aspect, it fulfill the need of testing and validating the relationship of EI and project success along with the mediating effect of work attitudes i.e. Job Satisfaction and Trust.

The influence of Stock Price Crash Risk on the cost of capital
(Library Information Services COMSATS University Islamabad Lahore Campus, 2020-02-03) Muhammad Rizwan; FA18-RMS-002; LHR TP 6381; Dr. Muhammad Usman
This study examines the effect of Sock Price Crash Risk (SPCR) on the cost of capital in Chinese listed firms in the Shenzhen stock exchange and the shanghai Stock Exchange. We take sample as 290 firms one the base of the highest value of assets of each firm. The cost of capital consists of two factors; the cost of equity (COE) and the cost of debt (COD). The SPCR is measured by using two statistics, one is NCSKEW means the negative coefficient of skewness of the firm-specific weekly returns and the second is DUVOL that means Down to-Up Volatility used to measure the crash likelihood weekly return of firm-specific and use the Modified PEG ratio model of Eston approach to measuring the cost of equity. We use the regression model with analyses of panel data. in the practice, we find SPCR is a significantly positive relationship with the cost of equity and cost of debt. Also, the sample was divided into the State-Owned enterprise (SOEs) and Non-State-Owned enterprise (NSOEs) for comparison. The results effect of SPCR on the cost of equity stronger in SOEs than NSOEs and the results effect of SPCR on the cost of debt stronger in NSOEs than the SOEs. In order to reduce the cost of equity capital of listed companies and improve the financing efficiency of China's capital market, regulatory authorities should perfect and strengthen the formulation of relevant laws and regulations on enterprise information disclosure. Enterprises should strengthen the construction of internal control, and make joint efforts to create a good information disclosure environment and prevent the risk of a stock price crash.
