Abstract:
In the year 2022 one third of Pakistan was impacted by the floods. One of the effected
settlements was Sokar located on the south bank of Sanghar stream, near Taunsa city in Dera
Ghazi Khan District, South Punjab. The two main reasons for its flooding were torrential rains
causing flash floods on the Sanghar stream.
The southwestern edge of Sokar was chosen as the study area because it was the first and the
most impacted part of the settlement. The physical condition of site was studied through
mapping & photographs while a social survey was conducted with the community using a
questionnaire.
Project main intent is that Enhancing community resilience to flooding by Inducing their
capability to adapt this climate related disaster by using adaptable, sustainable, ecofriendly and
low cost/ cost efficient flood resilient strategies.
To ensure the safety of their overall livelihood assets I tend to Design or formulating spaces
which can have flexibility to adapt or transform their tectonic as per the events of flood,
dynamics of the natural environment and native’s behavioral patterns in respective contextual
organizations.
