Abstract:
The results of this study revealed that system openness is associated with green product
development (GPD) through the mediation of green innovation climate. The analysis of
the study suggests that system openness plays a decisive role in driving green product
development in the electronic industry in Pakistan. Research results depict that
companies with high level of system openness are more likely to engage in GPD when
combined with green innovation climate GIC. The study collected data through selfadministered questionnaires and analysed it through SPSS using PROCESS macro. This
research concluded that system openness is an important driver of green product
development, and this relationship is partially mediated by a supportive green innovation
climate around sustainability. Companies that are willing to collaborate and engage with
external stakeholders while fostering a culture are more likely to develop
environmentally sustainable products that meet the needs of consumers and the broader
society.
