Abstract:
The lack of females lending leadership positions in the Pakistan has encouraged the
research of this study. The aim of this project is to investigate the influence of gender on
leadership styles (Transformational, Transactional and Laissez-faire leadership styles) of
Leaders in Pakistan and to better understand individual leadership styles by using
Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ) by Bass and Avolio, 1993. Data was
collected from the different sectors of Pakistan. A sample of 76 respondents, which made
up of 35 female and 41 male leaders, were selected out of 150 population from different
sectors in Pakistan to assess their leadership styles and also to measure which gender they
perceived as successful leader. Deduction research approach and Non sampling technique
was used in this project. The collected data was then analyzed and interpreted through
SPSS statistical software. Findings of this project shown that there are non-significant
differences between transformational and transaction leadership styles between female and
male leaders in Pakistan. However, to identify which gender is perceived to be the
successful leader, managers of both genders mentioned down the name of male leader in
majority.
