| dc.description.abstract | For tissue repair or wound healing, it is important to develop a biomaterial which would have such qualities that make it most suitable for the skin and the tissues. Lacto-bionic acid having properties like, anti-oxidant, anti-aging and anti-bacterial was expected to be better choices for developing such hydrogel that not only heals or repair the tissue but also provides skin care. Using different concentrations of Lacto-bionic acid, an anti-bacterial, thermo-sensitive injectable hydrogel was prepared. Lacto-bionic acid having anti-bacterial properties was used in varied concentrations to form an anti-bacterial hydrogel. In this type of hydrogel, Calcium-β glycerophosphate and NaHCO3 was used as neutralizing and gelling agents. Physiochemical properties of hydrogel were studied through gelation kinetics. Anti-bacterial activity was performed against E.coli and S.aureus in which the all compositions Chi.βGP.LA (1), Chi.βGP.LA (2) and Chi.βGP.LA (1) (4) showed effective anti-bacterial activity. Effect of LA on different compositions of hydrogels was studied; gelation time was affected by the different concentrations of lacto-bionic acid, injectability had also an effect because of varied concentrations of LA. All of the hydrogel compositions were characterized by FTIR, contact angle measurement and Thermo-gravimetric analysis, cell studies, degradation studies, swelling studies and SEM. A novel anti-bacterial hydrogel, having ability to resist E.coli and S.aureus bacteria, thermo-sensitive as well as injectable has been synthesized. Hydrogel provide an easy injectable implantation to get rid of surgery. It has non-toxic polymers having no side effects. It favors a rapid recovery and tissue repair procedure. | |
