E-Learning Social Network

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the necessity to move e-learning beyond learning management systems and engage learners in an interactive social learning network, and overview the development of ESN. Social networking has provided a medium for people from different backgrounds and locations to interact with each other and with the growth of internet users there is more demand and scope for distance education and opportunities to learn and explore different fields. ESN merges the need of education with social networking to provide the users with a platform to access knowledge and interact with scholars from their fields of interests. Following the Agile model of development ESN has been developed by using reliable web technologies like Cakephp,AngularJS and Ionic Framework to develop interactive mobile and web applications. As there is an ever growing need of learning and the growth of social networking, ESN has the potential to move E-learning and social networking beyond the usual trends.
