Abstract

Chak 99: Challenging Socio-Cultural Customs and Transforming Community Narratives” examines the deeply rooted traditions and social norms within rural settlements, focusing on how they shape identity, behavior, and opportunities for individuals—particularly marginalized groups. The study investigates restrictive practices related to gender roles, education, and social mobility, while highlighting the tensions between tradition and modernity. Through community engagement, awareness, and spatial or social interventions, the project aims to challenge limiting customs and promote progressive values such as inclusivity, empowerment, and equal access to resources. It emphasizes the potential for change through education, dialogue, and culturally sensitive development strategies.
