Abstract

Organization citizenship behaviors are beneficial for organizations but have some personal cost for employees. Specifically, we argue that compulsory citizenship behavior contributes positively to employee’s strain especially with burnout. To study the buffering role of transformational leadership, we collected data from 218 teachersof Punjab Colleges in Lahore division. The results supported our research questions. Compulsory citizenship behaviors have significant positive relationship with employee’s burnout. We also found that transformational leadership buffers the relationship between compulsory citizenship behavior and employee’s burnout, such that the relationship is weaker under high level of transformational leadership
