Abstract
In this research project, there is generally an exploration of the opportunities and challenges
of Islamic finance in the digital financial environment of Pakistan that focuses on a comparison
between JazzCash and EasyPaisa, which are the two major providers of mobile wallet. The
study is aimed at assessing how JazzCash can effectively introduce and expand Islamic
financial services while addressing different barriers. It should be noted that the research uses
a qualitative approach, which takes insights from a detailed literature review and interviews
with 50 EasyPaisa users in Lahore. In fact, the literature review basically shows that Pakistan’s
financial environment is digitalizing quickly and that Islamic banking has almost a quarter of
total banking assets by 2025. Not to mention, different international studies such as Woodhurst
(2024) and Mambu (2024) also confirm that Muslim customers tend to prefer Islamic financial
solutions to a large extent. This environment tends to position JazzCash to use the increasing
demand for mobile finance that is Shariah-compliant as a main differentiator.

of its digital application is still limited. Most respondents tend to relate Islamic finance with
ethical and interest-free transactions but do not have clarity about how these principles work
in mobile wallets. Regardless, trust and authenticity were identified as the most important
drivers of adoption. Moreover, it is indicated by respondents that Islamic digital services need
to be visibly certified by proper Shariah authorities for actually ensuring confidence. Not to
mention, several opportunities for JazzCash were identified by respondents, including the
introduction of profit-sharing savings and Islamic microloans among others. These findings
are in line with customer expectations for faith-based and user-friendly financial products.
Regardless, there are some challenges as well that range from constraints that prevent
JazzCash from offering profit-bearing accounts without a license of digital banking to
technical integration of Shariah-based contracts (like Mudaraba or Ijarah).
It is concluded by the project that JazzCash can definitely get a sustainable competitive
advantage in the market by pursuing a structured strategy of Islamic finance that focuses on
authenticity and innovation. In addition, there are several recommendations that are offered
such as: creating a Shariah Supervisory Board, offering Shariah-compliant savings and
investment products, launching campaigns on public financial literacy, and working closely
with regulators and Islamic institutions. In the end, this project offers JazzCash a roadmap to
change from being a provider of conventional f
