Abstract

Lahore was a city that we knew to be ofan inclusiveenvironment wheresocial activity wouldbe a more inviting aspect ofthe whole city, the city was an interconnectedorganism where physical and communicative boundaries were blurred but now the rapid modernization ofLahore has led to the demarcationand segmentation of theseattributes. Thesephenomena arecompartmentalized due to this rapid progressionof the city. Thepublic spaceusedtobe aplacewhere informal gatherings usedtotakeplaceandthe audience will indulge in a discussion on varioustopicsand sectorswhereknowledge wouldflowthroughoutthe whole group ofpeople. Thespatial alignment ofthese informal spaces caters totheinformal flow of informationandknowledgethroughthesesittings. Thisinformation usedto outflowfrom an individual and reach masses similarly create a democraticdiscourse. Thethesis aims at exploring thisphenomenon ofinformal spatial configuration andhowthese basic spatial elements have an effect on the behavior ofthe user, these accumulativesettings were the symbol ofthesociety where inventions, gatherings and intellectual discourse took placeitneeds tobe transformed ontheprinciples ofsocial interaction where the physical environment willplay an important role increating newstandards ofa more inclusive and deliberative environment.
