Item Discover Pakistan(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Hammad Zafar; CIIT/SP21-BMC-005/LHR; Mr. Yahya Ahmad; LHR TP 9960This report is reflective of my 8 weeks internship program In Discover Pakistan TV, spanning from 8th July, 2024 to 31st August, 2024. This internship helped us in getting hands on experience of how our media industry operates. On the orientation day, a meeting was scheduled with heads of different departments. They provided an overview of how different departments operate and asked us to choose the department we would like to work in that aligns with our interest and career goals. This report is based on how a programming department works, its importance and the activities performed by the department. It further includes the tasks assigned to me and my experience during the internship span. The objective of this internship was to polish my skills and to prepare myself for my professional career. I worked in the programming department for 2 months and learnt all 3 aspects of it; Pre- production, Production and post-production. This department is responsible for smooth execution of the programs and ensures that the quality of the programs meets the standards set by channel. The responsibilities of the programming department includes Scripting, Filming, Editing and overall content that is broadcasted on the TV channel. Making a program from scripting to filming to editing has equipped me with skills and techniques that’ll help me become a great Media Professional. I wrote script for Sports 360 program daily and worked closely with the producers to learn different aspects of executing a program. I had the great opportunity to work as an Associate producer for Pakistan’s Independence Day campaigns; Discovery rides episode with Rafia Aslam, Aik Qoum aik Parcham campaign with Discover Anchors at Lahore Monuments, Aik Qoum aik Parcham campaign with interns and also reviewed Entries from public on same campaign for 3 Prizes. As an associate producer, I made multiple documentaries on starfish and horse. I learnt several skills from how to write scripts in Urdu to how to record in the newsroom using the software. I along with the programming team went to faisalabad to record 2 programs of chakk de pathay show. It was a whole new learning experience for me and I got to learn how to work under strict deadlines. The purpose of this internship was to get practical experience by working in the media industry and to further enhance my skills. I got to learn from a talented group of media professionals who were willing to assist and share their expertise with me. I had a great experience working in Discover Pakistan. The learning environment and cooperative colleagues were pivotal in making my journey smooth and enriching. I was given constructive feedback on my tasks that helped me understand the complexities of projects and how to tackle them. All of the skills and expertise learnt from this internship will help me excel in the industry as a media professional.Item Discover Pakistan(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Namira Khan; SP21-BMC-012; Mr. . Yahya Ahmad; LHR TP 9961This report is a detailed document of my six weeks' internship tenure that I completed in the News Department of Discover Pakistan starting from 8th July, 2024 to 15th August, 2024. The report elucidates all my learnings, experiences, and the tasks or activities assigned to me that I performed throughout the span. Moreover, this report also provides a brief overview of the organization; it's history, it's purpose, motto and vision, the structural hierarchy, the departments, the offices, competitors and pretty much everything about Discover Pakistan. Also, this report will also include SWOT analysis and recommendations for the organization. I primarily worked in the News Department, however, I regularly visited some of the other departments including Digital Department and Creative Departments for the follow up of my tasks. During the first two weeks, I mostly did script writing and field reporting. I went to different sites including Liberty Chowk, Hafeez Centre and Amanah Mall to take voxpops of the people on the topics of my report which were later posted on Social Media page of Discover Pakistan. I was also assigned the task to be a part of promo shoot for the 8th mango festival arranged by Discover Pakistan in association with Agri-Tourism Development Corporation at Lahore Organic Village. Also, wrote a blog that was published in Pakistan Today which was basically a satirical article on politics of Pakistan. The rest 4 weeks were spent in the News Studio. I was trained as News internee for News casting under the supervision of senior news anchor, Mr. Haider Awan. Spent most of the time in practicing reading News from the teleprompter and also got auditioned for news casting, which was later approved and I got a job offer later by the same organization on the basis of that. The knowledge I gained and the skills I developed during my internship tenure added much value to my practical skills. I not only polished my previously existing writing and reporting skills, but also got to discover new skills and opportunities of anchoring which has been a huge milestone for me. Overall, the experience at Discover Pakistan was one of a kind and I'm pleased to learn so much from this organization.
