Item Pakistan Auto Odyssey: Automotive Experience Center(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) AHMAD SOHAIL; CIIT/FA19-BAR-031/LHR; Mekaal Chugtai; LHR TP 9299With the rapidly increasing demographics of motorsport enthusiasts in Pakistan, this thesis presents an initiative, Pakistan Auto Odyssey: an automotive experience center, preserving our history, and providing a platform for car meets and motorsport gatherings, through admiration, virtual experience and other car-oriented activities. Legitimizing car culture, with opportunities and for global recognition as a car community of Pakistan. Hence creating a common space for car enthusiasts to gather, and build a strong representing community. The core objective of this thesis will be to frame the emerging passion for motorsport in Lahore, and planning facilities for them, creating an infrastructure for multiple automotive events, like auto shows and car meets. A communal space, based on flexible spaces, and representing the beauty of automotive design, architecturally.Item Lodging Facility for Airport Passenger(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Mubeen Tariq; CIIT/FA19-BAR-002/LHR; Mekaal Chugtai; LHR TP 9294This thesis investigates the design and implementation of a lodging facility tailored to accommodate passengers experiencing overnight flight delays due to unpredictable weather conditions in Skardu, Pakistan. Skardu is a region that capture beautiful views of 3 mountain ranges and has breathtaking landscapes. This region also faces issues in aviation due to the terrain and weather patterns. Airport here frequently experiences disruptions in flight schedule. Leaving travelers stranded overnight. This research aims to address this issue by proposing a sustainable and resilient lodging solution specifically tailored to the contoured landscape of Skardu. The methodology involves a comprehensive analysis of the environmental context including topography, climate patterns, and cultural considerations. Through site visits, interviews and data collection, an understanding of challenges faced by the passengers and opportunities presented by the landscape is developed. Utilizing some principles of sustainability and resilience, this thesis proposes an integrated approach that harmonizes with the natural surrounding while providing comfort and safety for the travelers. Furthermore, this thesis explores the social and cultural aspects of lodging design, considering the needs of diverse travelers and fostering a sense of community within the facility. Common areas are designed to encourage interaction and collaboration, providing opportunities for cultural exchange and multiple support among passengers. Local artisans are engaged in design and construction processes, preserving traditional craftmanship and enhancing the authenticity of the built environment. 2 Overall this thesis proposes a holistic approach to designing a lodging facility on a contoured site for passengers facing overnight flight delays in Skardu, Pakistan. By harmonizing with nature and considering the cultural sensitivity the proposed design seeks to enhance the travel experience while minimizing the environmental impact and promoting community resilience in the face of unpredictable weather conditions.Item COMMUNEX: A HOME AWAY FROM HOME DESIGNING A HOSTEL FOR COMSATS UNIVERSITY ISLAMABAD, LAHORE CAMPUS(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) RAHEEQ AL AJAM; CIIT/FA19-BAR-013/LHR; Muhammad Mansoor; LHR TP 9297The project, based at Comsats University in Lahore, aims to solve the inadequate accommodation options for out-of-station students. There are too many out-of station students for the current on-campus student accommodation facility to accommodate their needs. In addition to significantly affecting students' academic performance, the lack of on-campus hostel facilities and the subpar living conditions in the ones that do exist have an adverse effect on their overall university experience and well-being. The objective of this initiative is to offer an innovative approach that improves the quality of life and helps students succeed academically. Its main goal is to create a student housing that fosters community building, social engagement and zone places in order to build a community that fosters better living and learning. The proposed facility includes a range of programs, including multipurpose space, mess hall, flexible bed accommodations (one bed, two bed, and three bed), tuck shop, printing Shop, warden office, sports facilities and service areas like laundry, kitchen and staff house. These spaces are carefully placed to facilitate various activities by maintaining the privacy and aura of space.
