Locus of Control, Communication Apprehension and Social Avoidance in Adults with Stuttering Disorder
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2025) Faiza Akram; CIIT/FA23-RCP-006/LHR; Dr. Mahira Ahmad; LHR TP 10060
The present study aimed to investigate the relationship among Locus of Control, Communication Apprehension, and Social Avoidance in young adults with stuttering disorders. Utilizing a correlational research design, the study sampled adults aged 18–25 (M = 21.1; SD = 2.1) through a purposive sampling strategy. Data were collected from various speech therapy centers in Lahore, Pakistan. Four standardized instruments were employed named as the Modified Stuttering Scale (Andrews & Cutler, 1974), the Locus of Control Scale (Rotter, 1966), the Communication Apprehension Questionnaire (McCroskey, 1984), and the Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (Watson & Friend, 1969). Reliability analysis confirmed that all scales possessed moderate to high internal consistency. Statistical analyses including Pearson product-moment correlation, mediation analysis, and independent samples t-tests, were conducted to examine the hypothesized relationships. The findings revealed that locus of control was significantly and positively correlated with social avoidance, while showing a significant negative correlation with communication apprehension. Furthermore, the relationship between communication apprehension and social avoidance was found to be significantly negative. Mediation analysis indicated that communication apprehension plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between locus of control and social avoidance. From a clinical perspective, this research highlights the necessity of addressing internal psychological factors in the treatment of stuttering. Beyond individual interventions, these findings suggest a need for public education campaigns and awareness programs to mitigate the social stigma associated with stuttering disorders

Spirituality, Family Support and Flourishing Well-being in Working Personnel
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Jaweria Afzal; SP20-BPY-001; Dr. Mahira Ahmad; LHR TP 8894
The purpose of this research was to establish the link between spirituality, family support, and flourishing well-being in working personnel. The convenient sampling method was used to collect data from 250 participants, age ranging from 30 to 45 years (M= 34.82, SD=4.994). A correlational research design was used in the study. Demographic Questionnaire, the Daily Spiritual Experience Scale (DSES), Flourishing Scale (FS), and Perceived Social Support – Family Scale (PSS-Fa), were used to collect the data. The correlation analysis, independent sample t-test, and moderation analysis were used to analyze the data. The correlation analysis showed that spirituality and family support both were positively correlated to flourishing well- being. Moreover, age was also found to be positively correlated to spirituality and flourishing well-being. Also, there was a significant gender difference in spirituality and flourishing well- being. Furthermore, the moderation analysis showed that family support acted as a moderator in the relationship between spirituality and flourishing well-being. The findings of the study have important implications for clinical practices, research, education, and policymaking. It also has the potential to provide a basis for future research to explore further related variables. It will also help to fill a gap in the existing literature. Despite few limitations, the study will help to understand the core insights and propose practical approaches and remedial measures that are effective in assisting these working personnel to work on their well-being.

Cyberbullying, Fear of Missing Out and Self-Perception in Adolescents
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Mehak Shahzadi; SP20-BPY-029; Ms. Hamna Zahid; LHR TP 8891
In recent years many parents and researchers have expressed concerns regarding the potential negative impact of social media use on adolescents. Some studies have indicated that social media use may be tied to negative mental health outcomes. Other studies have not found evidence for harm, or have indicated that social media use may be beneficial for some individuals. The current correlational study examined 417 adolescents from different Pakistani school and college students for their time spent using social media, and the importance of social media in their lives. The research investigated the relationship among cyberbullying, fear of missing out (FOMO), and self-perception by checking whether cyberbullying is a predictor of self-perception while fear of missing out acted as a mediator. Key findings include significant correlations between these factors, indicating that higher levels of cyberbullying and fear of missing out are associated with negative self-perception in adolescents. Results indicated that cyberbullying was not predictive of self-perception while fear of missing out acted as a mediator. However, cyberbullying was predictive of fear of missing out, suggesting this may be particularly relevant in leading to increased levels of mental health issues in cyberbullying victims. The study contributes to understanding the psychological impacts of digital technology use among young individuals and suggests the need for strategies to mitigate these negative effects. Finally, the theoretical implications of our findings on the relationship between these variables and the mental health issues of adolescent victims of cyberbullying are discussed. Keywords: Cyber-victimization, Cyberbullying, Fear of missing out, Adolescents, Self- Perception, Young adults

Media Exposure, Social Comparison and Body Dissatisfaction in Adolescents
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Shah Bano; SP20-BPY-014; Ms Hamna Zahid; LHR TP 8884
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between media exposure, social comparison, and body dissatisfaction among adolescents. It was hypothesised that media exposure, body dissatisfaction and social comparison are likely to be related to each other. The total number of participants in the current research was (N=349). A demographic questionnaire, Multidimensional Media Influence Scale (Cooper et al, 1987), Body Shape questionnaire (8C) (Cusumano & Thompson, 2001), and Iowa Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (Gibbons and Buunk,1999) were employed. The correlational analysis demonstrated that media exposure and social comparison were positively and significantly correlated with body dissatisfaction among adolescents. Results suggest that adolescents experiencing greater media exposure also show higher levels of body dissatisfaction. Media exposure and body dissatisfaction were found to be significantly correlated with social comparison, according to hierarchical regression analysis. All models were shown to be significant. This study has important implications for a wide range of stakeholders, such as researchers, teachers, parents, mental health specialists, and legislators. Despite its limitations, the study contributes to understanding the important, prominent factors that contribute to body dissatisfaction among teenagers and emphasizes the significance of intervention and prevention strategies in this social media era.

Parental Neglect, Social Support and Juvenile Delinquency in Young Offenders
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2024) Salika Batool; SP20-BPY-046; Ms. Hamna Zahid; LHR TP 8886
This research investigates the intricate interplay between parental neglect, social support, and juvenile delinquency, focusing on a sample of (N=200) incarcerated juveniles under the age of 17. Employing the Multidimensional Neglectful Behavioral Scale, parental neglect is assessed, while the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support is utilized to gauge social support in juveniles. The Self-Report Delinquency Scale is employed to measure delinquent behaviors among the participants. A relevant study conducted by Smith, Johnson, and Williams (2015) explored the connections between parental neglect, social support, and juvenile delinquency. Their research revealed a significant correlation between parental neglect and juvenile delinquency. It also emphasized the moderating role of social support in mitigating the impact of neglect. Correlational analysis of my study indicated a statistically significant positive correlation between parental neglect and juvenile delinquency, highlighting the critical role of parental involvement in shaping delinquent behaviors. Furthermore, the study explored the moderating influence of social support on this relationship. These findings contributed to our understanding of the factors influencing juvenile delinquency and emphasized the need for targeted interventions addressing parental neglect and enhancing social support structures. The research underscored the importance of considering familial and social dynamics in devising effective strategies to prevent and mitigate juvenile delinquency.
