Item REPURPOSING PET BOTTLES: A SUSTAINABLE APPROACH IN PAKISTAN(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2025) Fiza Asim; FA21-BDE-032; LHR TP 9653; Zain Ul AbidinPlastic bottles composed of Polyethylene Terephthalate are commonly used to package beverages. Unfortunately, these bottles end up as garbage, harming the environment and causing threat to the environment as said by Jambeck in 2015. This study examines the impact of PET bottle trash on the environment in Pakistan, with a focus on the broad effects throughout the Pakistan, where urban plastic pollution poses serious health and ecological problems. This thesis intends to provide awareness about sustainable design solutions that lessen PET bottle waste and increase sustainability by executing repurposing methodology on a smaller scale. Using observation, surveys and relevant data, the study examines effective methods and evaluates how well they might be adapted for local utility. According to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the fact-finding highlights the value of community involvement and public education in promoting repurposing practices and effective usage. To promote significant change and a sustainable future, a comprehensive strategy is suggested and encompassing awareness campaigns. The objective is to develop an understanding in youth and aware them to repurpose plastic bottles as they are the regular social media users and are aware of social trends and can easily adopt sustainable habits. In the end, this analysis sheds light on the urgent need to preserve and repurpose PET bottles and offers practical solutions.
