Item Childhood Trauma, Alexithymia and Emotional Dysregulation in Adults with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2025) Khadija Tul Zahra; CIIT/SP23-RCP-009/LHR; Dr. Mahira Ahmed; LHR TP 9541This current study was conducted with the aim of examining the relationship among childhood trauma, emotional dysregulation and alexithymia in adults with obsessive compulsive disorder. Using correlational research design, the participants with the age range of 20-44 years were selected through purposive sampling strategy for the participants diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder from different hospital in Lahore. This study revealed that almost 51.1% males and 48.9% females has participated. Toronto Alexithymia Scale (Bagby, 1994), Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-short form (Bernstein & Fink, 1998) and Emotional Regulation Inventory (Roth et al., 2009) were utilized. Moreover, results revealed that childhood trauma was associated with emotional dysregulation. Furthermore, regression analysis reported that childhood trauma is significant predictor of alexithymia and emotional dysregulation and explains the variance in alexithymia and emotional dysregulation. In addition, mediation analysis showed that the significant indirect pathway of the study variables which further revealed that there is variation from alexithymia among childhood trauma and emotional dysregulation. Thus, findings revealed that there is significant correlation between childhood trauma and emotional dysregulation among adults with obsessive compulsive disorder. Alexithymia significantly mediates the association between childhood trauma and alexithymia. Moreover, this research would be beneficial to fill out the research gap in Pakistani literature as there is scarcity in studying the mediating pathway of alexithymia among obsessive compulsive disorder adults in Pakistan. People might take guidance that child’s environment must be hindrance free so that they could protect themselves from developing pathologies in later life.Item LONELINESS AND SELF-ESTEEM AS PREDICTOR OF SELFITIS BEHAVIOR AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Kinza Hameed; SP20-BPY-033; Dr. Mahira Ahmed; LHR TP 8867The study aimed to explore the correlation among loneliness, self-esteem, and selfitis. Using correlational design and convenient sampling sample was consisted of university students aging 18-25 (M = 21.5, S.D = 1.11). Data was collected by administrating Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, Selfitis Behavior Scale, and The Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale. Pearson correlation showed a positive non-significant correlation between loneliness and selfitis behavior. Moreover, finding revealed a negative non-significant correlation between self-esteem and selfitis. Furthermore, findings from the t-test revealed that male participants were more prone to selfitis behavior. The study suggested future researches to incorporate individual related characteristics such as personality and coping to establish more stronger predictors of selfitis.Item Workplace Ostracism as a Predictor of Burnout and Intentional Turnover(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) Nazia Khan; SP20-BPY-007; Dr. Mahira Ahmed; LHR TP 8869The aim of the current study was to find out workplace ostracism as a predictor of burnout and intentional turnover. In this correlational study, convenient sampling strategy was implemented and participants were employees from different universities (3 private, 3 public) aged ranged 25-60 (M=37 SD= 7.3). Workplace Ostracism Scale (WOS), Turnover Intentional Scale (TIS) and Burnout Assessment Tool (BAT) were used to assess the predicting role of workplace ostracism between burnout and intentional turnover. Results indicated the significant predicting role of workplace ostracism in employees between burnout and intentional turnover. The result of the research shows that the workplace ostracism has a positive and significant relationship with burnout and intentional turnover. The present research provides a comprehensive understanding of the negative effects of ostracism on the workplace. This study provides direction to organizations to invest in training their workers regarding the effective management of their emotions with theoretical and practical perspectives. Organizations can develop good relationships among their employees by effective implementation of study results.
