Item Broadcast Latency Minimization Framework for Multimedia Cognitive Radio Networks(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Muhammad Ismai; SP18-RCS-028; LHR TP 7296; Dr. Amjad AliThe wireless multimedia transmissions are increasing substantially because of technological development. The Radio Spectrum (RS) usage is fix and utilized statically around the globe. Cognitive Radio (CR) in wireless multimedia networks has grown in popularity in recent years due to the reduction of the scarcity barrier by sensing the radio-frequency spectrum. This mechanism allows the Secondary Users (SUs) to use the unused bandwidth of the spectrum of the Primary Users (PUs) licensed spectrum over Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs). Therefore, these multimedia traffic require a spectrum for transmissions. Furthermore multimedia applications require strict Quality of Service (QoS) and this is challenging in CRNs where spectrum is accessed vigorously. The dynamic access techniques in CRNs lead to latency in the network, latency is the time for sharing of perceptive information from source node to faraway node in the network. In this thesis we have developed a framework for minimizing broadcasting latency for multimedia applications. Our framework is composed of seven phases and each phase performs its functionality which lead to the minimum latency. Furthermore the best QoS channel is selected based on fitness function where the fitness values of each channel is calculated and the high fitness value common channel is selected for broadcasting in the system. Our system is efficient system which meets the QoS level satisfaction for multimedia transmissions over a challenging environment where spectrum is not utilized efficiently. The existing results for latency mostly are for non QoS as well as for single radio system and single radio single channel system. Simulation results show that our system is more vigorous and appropriate for supporting minimum broadcast latency over MCRNs.Item Call Admission and Channel Assignment Framework Ensuring QoS for Multimedia Cellular Cognitive Radio Networks(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2020) Athar Ikhlaq; FA18-RCS-029; LHR TP 6417; Dr. Amjad AliIn this astonishingly growing technological era, wireless multimedia applications are increasing exponentially based on these technological advancements. Therefore, wireless multimedia traffic needs a spectrum for transmission. Radio Spectrum is Fixed and used statically worldwide. Cognitive radio in wireless multimedia networks has gained popularity over the past few years because of reducing the scarcity barrier by sensing the radio spectrum. This mechanism provides opportunities to Secondary Users (SUs) to utilize the unused bandwidth of the Primary Users (PUs) licensed spectrum over the Cellular Cognitive Radio Networks (CCRNs). However, multimedia applications demand stringent Quality of Service (QoS) for seamless Communication. The unused radio spectrum is dynamically available with location and time-dependencies. These dependencies starkly affect channel reliability (i.e., the channel's ability to serve the particular SU) in terms of QoS parameters. In this research, we have proposed a non-cooperative game theory-based Call Admission framework that is allocating resources to the admitted calls based on their desired required quality of services. For this purpose, the mechanism does appropriate channel assignment as per the SUs request for efficient resource utilization ensuring seamless multimedia transmissions over WCCRNs. The algorithm is providing a suitable channel selection for the maximum QoS-based spectrum utilization. The system guarantees the QoS defined parameters for multimedia transmissions so that the appropriate channel will be assigned to the SU based on its desired QoS requirements. Due to the opportunistic behavior, i.e., the dynamicity in the availability of the resources, MSU has to utilize the best suitable and available resource at the time of request entertainment. This behavior of the radio spectrum availability is due to the PU priority and we have tackled it by applying the non-cooperative mechanism. For each request, 4 actions have been provided by this theory, either the request will have what it demands or it will be provided with a greater one to ensure quality. If these 2 cases failed in entertaining the request, then the system will check for any available resource with a lower capacity but the satisfactory quality of services level in 3rd case, and assign it to the enrolled request. If none of these cases is possible then the enrolled request is simply discarded in case 4, as the system has no resources to entertain the respective request. Once a channel is assigned to a specific request against any of 3 cases, the system will start checking for primary user arrival. if detected, the allocated channel is made vacant and the transmission gets suspended. If primary user interference is not detected then the request will continuously transmit data until completion. The suspended request is entertained at priority next time to reduce the handoff rate. We have compared our results with the already available scheme in which they have used the bidding mechanism to allocate resources. For the proposed system evaluation, we have used the fitness function to elaborate the results gathered by the proposed system in terms of entertaining the requests as per their demand. The simulation environment has shown the results that the proposed system has outperformed the bidding technique to entertain more QoS-based requests.Item Feasibility Test of mm-wave in Futuristic Wireless Applications(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Muhammad Zaman Aslam; FA18-RCS-030; LHR TP 7294; Dr. Amjad AliIn the growth of technology and increasing demands of data intensive applications in terms of high throughput and low latency explains the evolution of telecommunication network standards. The next fifth generation wireless networks will satisfy the increasing demands of data hungry applications like (autonomous vehicles, drones, augmented and virtual reality etc.) also introduces itself with exciting new features.5G has emerged with exciting new applications and features because of high data rate and low latency support. Mm-wave is one of the strong candidate to support 5G wireless communications. This study will figure out that: are mm-waves are able to support high data rates during the mobility of low/moderate/high velocity of users. Also time critical applications i.e. drones, autonomous vehicles support high data rates and low latency. This will be done with the help of simulation tool. Network Simulator-3 (NS3) simulation tool will be used for the representation of facts and figures. As different technologies are updated to their new version’s computer is also one from them which was once huge enough and have the size of single large room then gradually, they got small with better features and functionalities. Similarly, one of the core part of computers, with the passage of time secondary memory also evolve and updated to a new form, like Hard Disk Drive (HHD) has been replaced with Solid State Drive(SSD) HHD were slow and have high read-access which results in slow system performance but SSD’s are new version with major updates in hardware components and soft wares and Speed of drive is dramatically changed with the time definitely software algorithms along with hardware too but thirst to provide more relief and to get more benefits in terms of time and storage is still up, in this case, huge research has already done on Algorithms but researchers are still working to increase the speed of already existing algorithms of Solid State Drive(SSD) and there is research to make these algorithms better and to increase speed more and more up to its maximum possible extent. As SSD market is growing different researches are underway that how already existing algorithms are working and how can we further improve them after that development and deployment of improved and optimized algorithms.Item Smart System for Medical Expertise Assistance(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2021) Amina Islam; FA18-RCS-016; LHR TP 7596; Dr. Amjad AliThe computer-based techniques are more suitable for feature extraction, and classification. The proposed CAD (Computer Aided Diagnosis) system addresses the several steps such as preprocessing, feature extraction, and classification. Though many commercial CAD systems are available, identification of subtle signs for many diseases detection and classification remains difficult. The proposed system presents some advanced techniques in medical imaging to overcome these difficulties. The past decade has seen the growing popularity of Bag of Features (BoF) approaches to many computer vision tasks, including image classification, video search and texture recognition. BoF methods are based on order less collections of quantized local image descriptors; they discard spatial information and are therefore conceptually and computationally simpler than many alternative methods. Despite this, or perhaps because of this, BoF-based systems have set new performance standards on popular image classification benchmarks and have achieved scalability breakthroughs in image retrieval. Emphasis is placed on recent techniques that mitigate quantization errors, improve feature detection, and speed up image retrieval. Among the unresolved issues are determining the best techniques for sampling images, describing local image features, and evaluating system performance. Among the more fundamental challenges are how and whether BoF methods can contribute to localizing objects in complex images, or to associating high-level semantics with natural images.
