SPECIAL SCHOOL TEACHER’S STRATEGIES FOR AUTISTIC CHILDREN: A QUALITATIVE APPROACH
(Library Information Services, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus, 2023) ZUNAIRA RASHEED; FA19-BPY-059; DR. SHAZIA GULZAR; LHR TP 8405
A child (plural: children) is a human being who is between the developmental stages of infancy and puberty (Rathus, 2013). Children are individuals whose physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development is ongoing. The time between infancy and adolescence, from birth to around 18 years of age, is commonly referred to as childhood. Children go through a number of significant developmental phases when they are growing up. While cognitive development comprises the learning of language, thinking, and problem-solving abilities, physical development encompasses increase in height, weight, and motor skills. Relationship building, self-awareness growth, and social behavior learning are all aspects of emotional and social development (American Psychological Association, 2013). Events in a child's early years have an influence on their general wellness and future development. Children may acquire crucial skills and establish solid foundations for their future in nurturing environments that offer chances for learning, play, and discovery. Contrarily, traumatic events like poverty, abuse, or neglect can have a detrimental impact on a child's development and result in long-term issues with physical and mental health. Education and healthcare systems play important roles in supporting the growth and welfare of children. Early childhood education programs, such as preschool or kindergarten, can help prepare children for later academic success, while healthcare providers can help ensure that children receive necessary medical care and support. In general, promoting the wellbeing, safety, and health of all children is essential for creating a flourishing society (Berger, 2017).
