Abstract:
The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of art therapy on self-esteem in
children with thalassemia. It was hypothesized that there was likely a effectiveness of art therapy
on self-esteem of children’s with thalassemia. Using Pre and post quasi experimental research
design and purposive sampling, the sample was consisted of 20 children age ranged 6-10 years
which were recruited through purposive sampling that are diagnosed with beta thalassemia. Self Esteem Scale for School Children’s (Sadia and Mahmood, 2011) was used for pre and post
assessment. Descriptive statistics was conducted on demographical variables and paired samples
t-test was used to analysed pre and post difference. The findings from this current study highlight
the effectiveness of art therapy on children’s self-esteem with thalassemia. Future research
should explore long-term effects and the integration of art therapy into standard care practices for
pediatric patients with chronic illnesses. Mental health professionals, clinician, policymakers,
educationist and care givers can also use art therapy to deal with psychological issues in children
with thalassemia
