Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between romantic jealousy,
love, and marital quality in married couples. The sampling methods to collect data
were convenient, purposive, and snowball sampling method. A sample of 200 married
participants with a marriage duration between 2 and 15 years (M=5.07, SD= 3.27).
Demographic Questionnaire, Romantic Jealousy Scale (Zahid &Tariq, 2020), The
Traingular Love Scale (Sternberg,1989) and The Quality of Marriage Index ( Almaisi
et al., 2018) were to be measured respectively. The Descriptives and Reliability
Analysis, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Mediation through structural modelling
were measured in the present study. The results of correlation analysis shows that
romantic jealousy had a significant negative correlation with passion, commitment and
marital quality. In mediation analysis love approves to play the mediator between
romantic jealousy and marital quality. All paths are shown to be significant. These
findings have important implications for clinical practice, education, research, couple
therapy, policy-making, and public health policy. This study will contribute to
prevention measures as emerging adults have to go later in their marital, social, and
professional lives. Educational programs and couple therapy should be designed to
promote healthy and responsible awareness about relationships and their dynamics to
increase awareness in young couples. Future research should explore the underlying
mechanisms consider moderating factors and do qualitative research on couples.
Despite the limitation, this study will contribute to understating the determinant
factors that affect the quality of love through jealousy among couples and the cause of
the decrease in marital quality
