Abstract:
The partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 is a prominent factor in shaping the lives of individuals
who endured the violence and mistreatment of war, which undoubtedly has left some traces that
can still be felt even after 75 years. This study explores that very fallout and proceeds to elaborate
upon topics of PTSD and resilience. The article starts with analyzing literature and case studies,
while further understanding how books and articles represent trauma in literature under the pretext
of partition. There is a variation in viewpoints once the narratives are examined further accounting
for the narrative styles and thematic elements and variables such as gender, ethnicity, and
socioeconomic background.
This study also taps into the psychological impacts of historical violence and trauma in literature
and memory, there are academic frameworks and trauma studies that further guide these insights.
Thus, incorporating these techniques into the artistic process, this study will help in creating an
animated short film. The goal is to create a powerful medium of expression through design. It also
further illustrates how design can successfully communicate complicated historical narratives
while enabling its viewer to foster emotions, understanding, empathy, and healing through
communities
