Abstract:
This thesis focuses on addressing the lack of key programs at service areas across
Pakistan, with the goal of improving motorists' travel experiences. This study provides
novel design interventions to incorporate important facilities that are currently lacking
through an examination of existing service areas and identification of programming
inadequacies. The report identified important programs, such as driver's spaces,
mobile police officers, fire stations, a variety of dining alternatives, retail
establishments, recreational facilities, and prayer areas, as critical aspects required to
improve the functionality and comfort of service areas. Design techniques emphasize
user comfort, accessibility, and sustainability while taking into account the unique
needs of travelers. The proposed interventions are inspired by worldwide best
practices and precedents, ensuring that design solutions meet international standards
while taking into account local context.
