dc.description.abstract This research attempts to observe the effect of HRM practices on retention and job satisfaction in private academic institution. An efficient human resource management practices that is employee empowerment, compensation, training and development, appraisal system are the major factor for the success of an organization on employee retention and job satisfaction. In this survey, we plan to study how employees observe significance of their empowerment, fairness of compensation, job plan through training and expectation to efficient performance management on their retention and job satisfaction. Data were collected on employees’ opinion about Human Resource Management practices and their results through structured questionnaire that contain questions with 5-point Likert scales distributed to 119 individuals are our sample. Multiple Regression, Cronbach alpha, Pearson correlation coefficient and descriptive statistics were used for different analyzes of this study. By using a multiple regression analysis, it is found that, appraisal system and empowerment are significant to employee retention except compensation and training and development. While on the other hand appraisal system and training and development are significant to job satisfaction except compensation and empowerment. Base on the results, empowerment and appraisal is a fundamental consideration for private academic Universities of Pakistan lecturers’. In case of retention decision, compensation and training is less fundamental to lecturers’ consideration. As the same time as, training and development and appraisal system is a fundamental consideration for private Universities of Pakistan lecturers’ job satisfaction; whereas compensation and empowerment is less fundamental to lecturers’ consideration. en_US
