Abstract:
The aim of this research thesis is to analyse about the inauguration speech of the newly elected president of USA known as Joe Biden who is a leading candidate. President Biden took oath as a president in the office at 20th January 2021 during the crisis of covid19 pandemic ensuring about the health and economic crisis which the economy was facing since it emerges. In this research thesis we will analyse about the political controversies which were discussed by Joe Biden at his inauguration speech. This thesis will also look into both acts of speech which are direct and indirect and also includes both qualitative and quantitative analysis which is related to the speech. The political speech which was given by Joe Biden introduced him as a fresh political character who seems worthy of the individual political scrutiny. After the research thesis was analysed the findings indicate that his speech was quite effective and also there were representative acts including the usage of direct speech. The source of this thesis will be taken from recorded videos and a script about the inauguration speech of Joe Biden. For collecting the data for this thesis, I have used observation method by doing a direct observation of the language which was being used in the speech and then I will use note taking technique to make the research more authentic. We will also discuss about discourse and under discourse I am applying the theory of Systematic Functional Theory which is introduced by Kress and Fowler. The main focus of framing is on the linguistic dimensions of language, and also maintains strong political agenda referencing about how the language is used (Lakoff,2013). The speech was quite informative and supportive which reassured the people that a change will surely take place and also it determined the decision power of the president. Hence this is the entire summary of what the discussion will be about in this research thesis which is related to the upcoming changes in policies discussed in the inauguration speech by Joe Biden
