Abstract:
In this semi-structured phenomenological study sex education and self-defense was explored
qualitatively. Twelve participants (6 male & 6 female) with an age range of 19-24 years were
selected through convenient sampling from COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus.
Study was aimed to investigate the importance and use of sex education and self-defense in
university life. it also looks for what sex education and self-defense plays role in student’s life.
Consent form & a demographic sheet with a semi structured questionnaire was made and in
person interviews were taken. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to
extract the results of sex education and self-defense study. Findings recommends that parents
should start teaching their children from a very early age and should educate them till adulthood.
Other than parenting results focus on teachers and university administration to provide
educational camps and security to feel free to speak about sexual harassments. Results also
indicate that providing sex education along with self-defense is a necessity.
