Abstract:
Petroleum fuels are being consumed as an efficient energy source since many years, the
continuous diminution of Petroleum and Coal fuel reserves has arisen the attention towards
sustainable energy source. Amongst various alternatives of fossil fuels all, Hydrogen is
considered to be potential energy source. Hydrogen is renewable (if obtained from water
electrolysis), contain comparatively high calorific value i.e., 242 kJ/kmol at 25°C and
releases only water vapors. Storage and supply of hydrogen is a significant aspect for the
effective consumption of hydrogen in the automobile fuel cell. [1]
In this study Pt/CeO2, Pt/Al2O3 are proposed for the study of catalytic dehydrogenation
of methyl cyclohexane.
The study’s purpose is to have the effect of catalyst (Platinum/Ceria and
Platinum/Alumina) on the synthesis of Hydrogen Fuel. For the synthesis of the catalysts,
solution combustion method was used. After synthesis, active metal (Platinum) was
impregnated to study its effect on the quality and production of Hydrogen fuel.
The catalysts were analyzed by XRD, FTIR, Raman Spectroscopy, BET. Liquid Product
(Toluene) produced will be analyzed by GCMS.
