Abstract:
The Islamic Republic of Pakistan is the fifth most populous country in the world with a
poverty ratio of 31.3% in 2018 (Rana, 2019). This highlights the fact that a large part of
the population is deprived of the basic necessities of life such as food and clothing.
According to the Global Hunger Index in 2020, Pakistan ranks 88th out of 107 countries
with a score of 24.6, indicating a serious level of hunger (Pakistan, 2021). The sensitivity
of the situation can be measured by the point that the reason behind this starvation is not
a limited production of food, but the miserable fact that the food that is produced is
wasted in numerous ways. Moreover, there are thousands of people wearing torn clothes
and living in houses with little or no furniture; the houses that they call homes are
deprived of even some of the basic day-to-day needs, and thousands of youngsters
wanting to study but not being able to afford buying new books. On the contrary, there
are people with an excess of such things that are just uselessly staying in their possession.
This unequal distribution needs to be tackled in order to pave way for a better lifestyle for
all citizens. Apart from these problems, another crucial need that needs to be taken care
of is of blood transfer. Pakistan has an alarming safe blood shortage; about 3% of its
population should donate blood in order to meet its needs (Desk, 2019) and so the gravity
of the situation needs to be focused upon. Hence, the aim of this project is to devise a
system that will act as a solution to the above mentioned problems, all in one place, in a
way that is both encouraging and convenient for the people. The main idea basically is to
work for a social cause, in a direction that leads to serving the humanity. Therefore,
Ehsaas is a web and mobile based application inclined towards the sacred act of donation
specifically of food, used items and blood.
