“CAMOUFLAGE IN NATURE” “DESERT RESORT IN CHOLISTAN”

Abstract

Architecture is a mirror that reflects the cultures and traditions of an area .Pakistan has different culture and lifestyles. Cholistan is one of the areas which are still unexplored. The rich culture and history of that area along with the spice of festivities is a potential tourism magnet attracting leisurely youngsters to learned scholars of history and archeology. The intend of this thesis is to explore the local culture and traditions of the Cholistan desert along with the indigenous architecture and way of living. Cholistan jeep rally is one of the key features now of the area. This international event has triggered the economic growth of that area and has forced to improve the infra-structure of that area and financial conditions of the locals. In this area a desert resort is desirable to cater the tourism needs of the area. Cholistan Desert being the area of attraction, building has to reflect local building norms. Rich fort architecture of that area will be explored along with the manipulative techniques used by locals to survive in wilderness of the over powering desert giving the visitor a experience of sandy landscape views.
